It was here, it was finally here. It was Anna's wedding day.
The fjords sparkled with a warming yet crisp glow; it would be an interesting day. The snowflakes shone high up on the North Mountain and there was a warm chatter among the entire population of Arendelle. Anna was happy. It would be their first party since the coronation, and everyone was invited. There would be soup, roast and ice cream, the menu she had always wanted for her wedding.
Elsa contemplated not going. She was, undoubtedly, jealous of her sister. At 18, three years younger than herself, she had found the love of her life; and truly true love this time. They were blatantly perfect for each other. And Elsa had no-one. She was alone in the biting cold, swirling vortex of the fear of her own power; and even the maids that were closest to her always kept a watchful eye on her for danger.
Olaf saw the lack of twinkle in her eyes and gave her a 'warm hug', but she gently pushed him away. Her greying face faked a contented smile as she gracefully swept towards the courtyard.
The palace did look beautiful, though. She had decorated it herself; and from the glistening, icy waterfalls to the soft, snowy benches; it all came together in perfect frozen harmony. There was a large ice-rink where the wedding was to take place, just like the day when they discovered that "love will thaw".
It felt as if no time passed at all before the guests began to arrive. Oaken, Olaf, Grand Pabbie and the Trolls, Kai and Gerda, and many more flooded through the gates. Even Marshmallow was invited.
Last of all came Hans. He was invited by order of Anna, to prove to him that "someone out there did love" her. Even though everybody argued with her, even Kristoff, that it was beyond reasoning, Anna was adamant that Hans should attend. So there he went, strolling through the gates everyone was sure he would never cross again - but nevertheless he strolled passively and avoided the sisters.
And so the proceedings began. Anna entered; she was stunning. Her red hair was tied up into a formal plaited pin, much like Elsa's original hairstyle, but Anna's warm coloured hair and attitude created an almost new meaning for it. Minute sparking emeralds were wound into her hair and hung from her milky throat and earlobes. She wore a grass-green dress similar to the one worn at Elsa's coronation, but complete with cream trimming at the base of the dress and a small amount of frills along the neckline. She perhaps clashed with the decor, but Anna did not want to be icy and piercing blue today, however beautiful the ice was; that was Elsa, and today Anna wanted to be Anna.
The wedding was short but magical. Truly a wedding as if from a fairytale - not a mistake was made.
After the wedding came the reception. Anna and Kristoff wound up the stairs to get ready for the party and all the guests accumulated in the church. Elsa stood regally at the top of the ballroom, silent and alone. All of a sudden, a male voice sounded behind her.
"May I have this dance?" It was Hans.
"No." Elsa replied shortly and disdainfully.
"May I ask why not, your highness?"
"May I ask how many reasons you would like, you vile creature?"
"A fair point, ma'am. I'll leave you to your, er, um, whatever you're doing then, ma'am."
Elsa felt alone as he turned away. Somebody had come up to her, offered her social contact. They weren't scared of her, or not as scared of her as the others. And she had turned them away, just as she had turned Anna away all her life. Could one dance do that much damage?
"Er, Hans. I guess it, it couldn't hurt."
"My greatest thanks, your highness."
Polite, too, Elsa thought. He might have done wrong to her sister, but he sure was a gentleman.
