Cassandra never understood why the phrase 'Fight like a girl' was meant to be degrading. If anything, she considered it a compliment.
Girls are vicious.
They don't fight with fists, they fought with words-carefully chosen, harshly bit.
They didn't spit or grit or howl; they mouthed fancy words and whispered secrets and mocked. Oh how they mocked.
They used their brains and hit where it hurt most. Their words like poison, like blades, cutting, slashing, burning, burning, burning.
There are many different kinds of fights-women fought wars.
She had seen Clark walk into the headquarters half-dead, because of a tardy date with Louis.
She had seen Bruce sitting in front of the Bat-computer late at night, staring blankly at intel of Selina and Talia al' Ghul.
She had seen the men of the Justice League shrink at the sight of a murderous Diana, fists bared, eyes gleaming, (and it was then they all collectively remembered every single thing they did or said that might have offended Diana, and prayed for the Gods to spare them).
In the end, she thinks, maybe she did understand the phrase.
But it wasn't complete.
So on the piece of crumpled pink paper, she finished it with her own shaky handwriting.
Fight like a girl.
(Beat all the boys)
Satisfied with her work, she stuffed the paper in her pocket, and then proceeded to show it proudly to Barbara and Steph, who looked at it in approval, and then after complimenting her on her learning progress, proceeded to question why that piece of paper was in the Bat-cave at the first place.
After some meaningful eye contact and silent discussion, Barbara picked up her cell to dial the numbers that they all knew so well.
Long story short, Cass would then prove the phrase correct again as she added to her win count and the batboys added a few(dozen) bruises.
Fight like a girl indeed.
Well who doesn't love a Cass fic?
I've had this lying around but never got around to finishing it, so here you go!
I decided we all need a little more Cass love nowadays, seeing as DC might as well have benched her in the New 52 (;-;))
So...yeah. Here it is! don't forget to leave a review!
