Forgiven
"Don't do it."
The blond turned towards the whisper, his pale face drawn. The dark grey eyes of the girl standing in front of him held an emotion he couldn't place, but the emotion in her voice gave him a clue as to what that was. Hurt, desperation and sorrow.
He turned his own grey eyes away from her. No, he couldn't look at her. He didn't want to have anything to do with her. Not now. Not ever.
Couldn't save you from the start

Time has passed you by
He shook his head, silver grey eyes staring at the ground. A wave of regret washed over him. Things could have been different. But they weren't. She would just have to deal with it. He never asked her to care. He didn't want her to. Silently, he walked away.

She watched him until he was out of sight. It hurt. She didn't know why she cared, but she did. Seeing him, so alone, so helpless… Her heart bled for him. But he didn't seem to care. He never did.

Her raven hair fell into the stormy grey eyes that never left the spot he last stood. Silent tears rolled down her face. It was hard to breathe. It was hard to think. It was hard to move.
I watched the clouds drifting away
Still the sun can't warm my face
I know it was destined to go wrong
You were looking for the great escape
To chase your demons away
Finally she got her feet to move. Out into the warm sun, hoping it would bring out something other than pain. She lifted her tear stained face to the sun. But it didn't help. Even the warm rays on her face didn't make her feel anything but empty.

Why? Why couldn't he turn away from the evil that threatened to consume him? Why did he walk towards it? Did he think she would let anything happen to him? To anyone he loved? Why did he leave her in silence?

He kept a steady pace, the only steady thing about him then. Never had he been so close to falling to pieces. Never had he ever felt these emotions that overwhelmed him whenever he saw her sad eyes watching him. He wasn't supposed to care. Why did he then?

Why not me before you?
Why did fate deceive me?
Everything turned out so wrong
Why did you leave me in silence?
He felt so confused, so lost. Why? Why couldn't he be heartless? Things would have been so much easier then. Why was he being punished? Nothing had turned out right. Nothing ever would. He just had to live with that. He had to do what needed to be done to keep the ones he loved safe.
A pale hand reached out to steady him against a wall. He was alone, he could let the tears fall. And so he did. Silently they fell. He swallowed against the lump in his throat.
"Can I ever be forgiven?"
Out on the grounds, the lone figure of the dark haired girl sat, knees drawn up to her chest. Her arms wrapped themselves around her knees and her chin came to rest on them. Still, the tears fell. She wished they wouldn't.
With a heavy sigh, Kaiden closed her eyes, thoughts of Draco filling her mind.
