A very quick and cute KuroTomo. Because there's not enough as there should be.

Damsel In Distress

"Nice try." his voice said, with a teasing tint and Tomoyo looked up from her hiding spot, pouting. She'd thought for sure he wouldn't be able to find her this time. But, unfortunately for her, Kurogane was a master at hide and seek, and always found her, no matter where she hid.

At the time, she was only six. She'd known Kurogane for a couple years now, and he was fun to have around. He indulged her sometimes, played games. Mostly in sat in his room, or stalked around the castle, his anger growing into something thick around him. She didn't like it. She knew he was always thinking about his parents, and their deaths, and she wanted to stop it. She wanted him to sometimes think about other things.

But it was like telling a rock to stop being a rock. It wouldn't hear her, and even if it did, it wasn't likely to change.

"Okay." she said, standing up with a smile, and grabbing his bigger hand to hold in hers. He paused and looked down at her, but let her. "It's your turn to hide now. And don't hide somewhere easy just because you think I won't be able to find you."

"Heh." he laughed. "You wouldn't be able to find me."

"Let's just see." she challenged, and he nodded, let go of her hand, and walked off. Tomoyo counted to one hundred and went searching. After ten minutes, she still hadn't found him. But she wasn't giving up. After fifteen minutes, she realized she'd wandered a little far from her castle and started to make her way back. After twenty minutes, she realized she was lost.

She was standing at a river, one she'd seen before. So maybe she wasn't lost. That calmed her. The water looked inviting, so she took a step in. Then she went a little further, until she was up to her knees. Her dress was wet, but she wouldn't get in any real trouble.

Over her shoulder, far off, she heard Kurogane shout her name, and she turned to look for him. The movement sent her tumbling backward into the rushing water. By the time she got her head above the water, she was gasping for breath. Her heavy gown weighed her down. She tried to shout for help as she went sailing downstream, but water rushed in and cut her off.

Nobody knew where she was.

Or so she thought.

But then there was a flash of black, and she was in somebody's arms, back on land seconds later. It was Kurogane, wet too now, who was holding her, and he looked concerned as he asked, "Are you alright?"

She looked up at him, and felt herself blushing suddenly, as she looked into his worried face.

That was the day it started.

The day she started to love him.

And it wouldn't be the last.
