Hey guys,

Before I start this little one-shot I want to dedicate it to my best friends. You guys have always been there for me and I love you each for it. Thanks to chewinggumandpencils, LouisaLovegood, and NationalWonder. If you like my story, check out theirs too. They don't write Young Justice, but they do write other stories, except for National, but check out her favorite stories.

Okay this is getting long and cheesy. Allons-y!

What is the most basic difference between surviving and living? Who or what has taught you this belief?

Artemis stared down at her paper chewing the end of her pen. She was sitting in the cave finishing her last piece of homework. The question stared back at her, and then gave about 10 lines for her to answer. She looked up at the people around the cave. Robin and Wally were playing video games. Zatanna and Megan were painting nails and laughing. Kaldur was reading and Conner was sitting across the table working on some of his own homework. She smiled and clicked her pen then wrote

The difference between surviving and living is the reasons behind each. My father taught me the true meaning of survival. He left my family when I was little. Since then, I haven't seen him because the reasons for my father are not love for a family or a place. My father is driven by a love only for himself. He floats along thinking only of the next day and the day after that and trying to find a way to earn himself more money, power, and recognition. My father only survives.

My friends taught me how to live though. They're the ones who showed me that living is about other people. My friends show me how to live with honor and courage and strength and compassion. They are always there for me, even if they don't realize how much they are helping. I can count on them to be there for me, with a gentle hand and a kind word, though sometimes it's much simpler than that. Sometimes it's just standing there with me, letting me know that they are with me as we take on the world. Those are the people who taught me how to live with laughter and kindness and in that way, taught me to truly live.

Artemis smiled at her answer and slipped it into her folder. She put the folder in her bag, stood up, and said,

"Hey Baywatch, why don't you hand the controller to someone who can handle it?"

"No way Arty, you have to way to challenge the master just like everybody else."

Two weeks later Artemis was sitting in English when she got the paper back. She quickly read over the teacher's comments.

You are a very smart girl who clearly has a strong support system. Never lose sight of that. Keep up the good work and you should have no problem in my class
