This was a rushed one—fifteen minutes? I rushed it out before bed five days ago, because the idea was bugging me throughout dinner. So here it is, a product of my impromptu writing.
This is my ninth single-Pokemon-centric poem, and my seventeenth poem on . This time, it's Drifblim. Not a very famous Pokemon.
Follow the Wind
Upon the mountaintop we wait
Sleepily watching the shadows shift
Like a giant sundial
-
Time flows slowly, and for now,
We wait, still,
Wait for the moment when
Our next journey begins.
-
Up above us, the sky is opened wide
The clouds drifting lazily.
In just an hour or two, we know,
We will be up among them.
-
But without wind, we are motionless.
We cannot move, cannot leave
Our resting places on the mountain—
Not until that great wind starts again.
-
Impatient for the journey to start,
We glance repeatedly at the sun.
How long more till the evening gale?
When can we start to fly?
When can we, once again, begin to explore?
-
-
Then, the air around us stirs
At last!
We catch the wind
And let it carry us up, up!
-
Every afternoon, the same thing happens.
It might seem repetitive to one,
But every time, it's a new place, something fresh!
We never get bored by our journey.
-
As the gusts carry us higher, we all wonder—
Where are we going next?
So many places, a whole world to explore—
A boundless world with a million sights
-
Where to go, we can't decide
So we simply follow the wind—
And let it take us wherever it pleases.
Eh, sorry for the number of "—"s in this poem.
You know what? This poem was inspired by the "quote" thing at the bottom of my fake Drifblim Pokemon card. "It is drowsy in the afternoon, but in the evening, it flies off over the mountains in large groups. No one knows where it goes." At least, it was something like that. Quite nice, so I wrote a poem on it.
This work is supposed to give you a feel of relaxedness throughout, so there are no impactful lines, etc. But do tell me which line/part was your favourite! I like to know stuff like that.
