For Love of Understanding

She thinks maybe she

understands him.

What he wants

Then again she does not understand

what she sees of him.

But she thinks she sees

and understands.

After all

it is hard to understand

something which is hardly there.

A word,

a look,

a pause

and then it is gone,

and she is back to puzzlement.

She thinks she understands him,

but then again

you cannot understand something

which is incomprehensible.

She thinks she understands him,

until finally

she stops trying to understand,

and just starts believing

in him

and

in the beauty

of their dream.

Finally she thinks,

she is free

to not understand him at all

but still,

to love him.
