Disclaimer: Saiyuki is the property of Minekura Kazuya. I am but a lowly fan that sneaks the boys out to play. And ending up scarring them for life.

PERFECTION

The first thing that had to go was the hair. It was the most obvious thing, after all. Golden locks that reflected the light of the sun and attracted curious looks wherever they went. Perverts tried to stroke it whenever they hit on him and Goku tugged on it when he had first rescued the damn monkey from the cave.

Blond locks fell to the floor in clumps, a pair of scissors soon following them. Sanzo kicked it aside with his foot.

He wanted to get rid of his eyes next because they were the second thing people noticed about him. But he needed them for now so they'd have to wait.

Next was his face. People called him pretty. People called him beautiful. His face was the reason he had been the constant target of pedophiles in his younger years. It was the reason he had almost been raped numerous times.

Sanzo picked up a knife and began making cuts. Across his high cheekbones, across his forehead, across his temples, across the bridge of his nose. Blood was dripping steadily onto the floor and sink, coursing down his face and into his eyes, blurring his vision as he looked at his reflection in the mirror.

After a moment's consideration he took off his robes and shirt then ran the knife down one arm, watching with blank eyes as a line of red welled up and ran down to his fingers. At his feet, the pool of blood on the floor grew bigger.

Satisfied with his handiwork, he looked back at the mirror and leaned forward. He could feel the coldness of the sink pressing into his belly but he ignored it. Using his bloody hand, he held his eye open, wide enough that the whites could be seen all around the purple iris.

He brought up the knife and the last thing he saw was a flash of bright red.
