Goddess

Anna was a good girl… but… not really.

Anna was a good daughter.

She loved Father. She was born with horns, like Father, and so she was "superior." Everyone in their family was "superior," but Anna was special because she had horns and her brothers didn't.

Anna studied hard and did her best on her tests. She outran all the boys in gym. Her bedroom was tidy and organized, her handwriting so neat it was if it had been typed, she dressed in fine kimono and was a proper lady.

She did everything that Father asked of her, and even when Father told her that he was going to operate on Anna, so that she would be even more "superior," she smiled and agreed because it would help Father. And then, when Anna became a goddess, she told Father everything he wanted to know.

Anna was a good daughter.

..but she wasn't really.

Grandmother hated Anna. Even though Anna had horns, she was "failure." Her brothers, who didn't have horns like Anna, were better than Anna was.

Anna did terribly on her tests, no matter how hard she studied. She knew Father lied when he told her that she was just becoming "superior" a little slower than the rest of her family. She loved running, and was proud of herself for being able to outrun everybody, even though it wasn't ladylike. She kept her room and her handwriting tidy, when all she really wanted was to leave her bed unmade, throw her schoolwork across the floor, and write in big, ugly letters that no one could read but her. She didn't like her lovely, expensive kimono, and wished her closest was full of over-sized T-shirts and tight running shorts and sneakers.

Anna was sad when Father announced he was going to operate on her, and she cried because she knew she really was "failure." She cried when she looked at her legs and realized that she would never be able to run again.

And then, Father made Anna into a goddess. And Anna resented Father.

Anna grew and became a goddess. Anna was smart now, she could predict what would happen to the world and she told Father what he wanted to hear instead of the truth about what would happen.

Anna grew and became a goddess. Her brain grew and grew and her bones broke away because she was just too big for them now. And Father put her deep down, deeper than the Underground, where all that Anna ever saw was the graves of her ancestors, the salagmites and stalactites, and the radioactive water that supported her twisted goddess body.

When Father came, she didn't want to talk to tim, but she always did anyway. She wanted to crush father under her giant goddess hand, but she never did. Father asked her questions, and Anna always ended up answering.

She hated Father, but she couldn't help but love him. She wanted to kill Father, but couldn't allow him to die. Because Father was all she had left.

Anna wished she had been a better daughter.

END

Anna is a character exclusive to the manga of Elfen Lied. The daughter of Director Kakuzawa, she was used by her father so that he could come closer to his goal of wiping out the human species. She is a truly innocent character that did not deserve the fate she was given. Anna is like her father; she has horns, but no vectors. It is not until late in the manga, when she is still in her "goddess" form that she is able to use vectors.

Anna always speaks in 3rd person.

For the record, Professor Kakuzawa (the character that attempts to rape Lucy/Nyu/Kaede and ends up having his head go flying) is her brother.

Why am I writing fics about characters like Number 28 and Anna? Because all the fanfics here are based on the anime, which results in hardly any variety. If you've seen the anime, please, take the time to go to onemangadotcom and read the manga, because you're missing out on so much.

Read, review, and all that jazz!
