Irises and Heartbreaks
It was as dark as she remembered - the memory lingered since her childhood. It was faint, but it could never be forgotten. She remembered someone standing by her balcony, looking at her with blood-red eyes and his body covered by a black cloak.
She stood up and approached him, his body illuminated by a full moon. He opened his mouth, revealing his sharp fangs. She reached for her and he disappeared. After all, she was human and he was a vampire.

"Hermione! Wake up!"
Hermione's brown eyes fluttered open. She was dreaming...again.
"Are you alright?" asked Ginny who sat at the end of her bed.
Hermione caught her breath before she answered. "Just a dream, no need to worry about it," she assured waving her hand in front of her.
Ginny's eyebrows creased together. "But you've been having that dream for some time now. Don't you think it means anything?"
Hermione remained silent.
"What's it about?" Ginny asked.
Hermione's lips pressed in a straight line. "A vampire," she half-whispered.
"A vampire?" Ginny echoed.
There was a moment of silence between the two until Hermione spoke.
"Yeah, but they don't exist, don't they? It is said so in the books that the muggles just made this myth up," she said, laughing. "So, they can't possibly mean anything."
Ginny frowned. "I guess you're right," she said, handing a bottle to Hermione. "This will help you sleep."
Hermione nodded. She knew very well that she needed it.

"Hey, Hermione, have you heard?" the redhead across of her asked.
"Hm?" Hermione murmured as she poked her food with a fork. "Heard what?"
"Everybody's been going off about a new kid in Slytherin," Harry answered.
"New kid?" Hermione's head jolted up, intrigued by the topic. "Who?"
"Malfoy," Ron noted, raising his index finger as-a-matter-of-factly. "His name's Malfoy."
Hermione raised one eyebrow. "Malfoy? That's a surname of a pure-blood family, right? But I thought they were - "
Harry cut her off. "Exactly," he said, knocking down Ron's finger. "The whole clan got wiped out years ago. That's why everybody's been making a fuss about it." He turned to Hermione and smiled. "Knowing you, you'd be heading to the library now, right?"
Hermione smiled back, intently looking around. "Is he in here?" she asked.
"No." Ron paused. "Or 'I don't know'," he said. "No one's seen him yet."
"Then it's my job to find out," she said, standing up and walking away.

Hermione sat straight, turning her head from side to side. All the books she had read said the same - which the Malfoys were all dead many years ago, yet there was this one Malfoy left. Soon enough, she'd know more than what those books say!
Suddenly, the whole room fell silent hearing the doors open. And there he was - a boy with blond hair so light it was almost as pale as his skin. He walked across the room as Hermione followed his figure. He was built and about a head and a half taller than her...and he was unbelievably...
Her heart skipped a beat.
Right then and there, as his blue-gray eyes flickered to her, they turned red.
