You knew it was to good to be true.

Someone you liked actually liked you back. A person who wanted to kiss you.

Figures she would leave you for someone who could dance with her, instead of crushing her toes because she got too close,

God forbid she stay on the lowest level of the high school social food chain with you. No, instead she moves up on the chain to be with him. The dancing, singing, football player.

Sure, you should have treated her better. Honestly, you should have, and you tried, you really did, whether she believes it or not. But, no that doesn't mean a goddamn thing to her. She jumped at the chance to put her hands all over Mike Chang's abs of perfection. Damn him.

Damn her.

Because the thing that bothers you the most is that you don't know the exact time that they hooked up. It could have been before she ended it. It could have been after. And now you'll never know, because all communication between the two of you ceases to exist.

And despite Glee club, she was your first real and (somewhat) honest friend. Sure there's Finn, but he's so wrapped up in Rachel and his own drama that there is no way you could call him up for Sunday tea. Mercedes and Kurt are so into their fashion and singing that they physically cannot see anything past their own noses. After them, who else is there?

Somehow, no one comes to mind.

So you will roll through the hallways, alone and crippled. And you'll see the constant reminders of a happier time. You'll see Mike hold her hand. You'll see Kurt and Mercedes talk and gossip together. You'll see Puck and Quinn dance around each other until something throws them together. And you'll watch as Sam fits himself into Glee club, like the missing piece of a puzzle. A puzzle you were never a part of.

Somehow the fact that you will be alone doesn't surprise you. It's always been this way, even before the accident. You were the quiet one, in the back of them room, with no one who wanted to call you friend. Besides the obvious wheelchair, nothing has really changed since then.

And you're pretty sure nothing ever will.

But you'll smile and laugh when necessary. You know that no one is ever going to notice you. But in case they do look you're way, you'll act happy, simply because you are Artie. You are supposed to be happy. But in reality…

You're not.
