Erased

I wake to see your smiling face.

Tears of joy spring down my face.

But as I go to touch you.

Your image is erased.

I look around my room again.

Looking for your face, listening for your footsteps.

Nothing, I don't see your face, don't hear your footsteps.

I shed the tears of my held sorrow.

As I look up at the sky.

I cannot erase the sight of your eyes.

And as I keep my hope intact.

I wonder if you'll ever come back.
