"The Story"
About 5 ½ years ago my older sister sold her two horses to a local barn just outside my home town. At the time I was 8 years old and not that interested in horses or riding at all. But I went anyway with my mom and sister to drop the horses off at the barn. When we got there, the new owner unloaded the horses and let them loose into a big grass pasture with 2 other horses. I looked at the horses and one was a dark bay and the other was beautiful. Chestnut with a dark brown mane and tail waving in the summer wind.
He looked up at me and pricked his ears. I showed my mom him, and asked the barn owner what his name was. She replied to me, telling us his name was "Noah". I liked it, plain but very cute.
On our way home I talked and talked about Noah, that beautiful chestnut gelding. I talked about him for weeks and begged for riding lessons. My mom was in shock that I actually wanted to ride. Noah made me want to ride. He was the one who made me dream.
My mom finally broke down and brought me to summer camp at the barn where we sold my sisters horses too. I was especially happy that Noah was there. I rode all that summer, and finally after a half of year on a small pony I worked my way up to Noah. 16 hands and beautiful. I'll never forget the way he moves, smooth and collected. I felt like we were one and nothing else was around. We just fit together like a hand and a glove.
After taking lessons on Noah for a couple years my instructor suggested leasing Noah. Which is basically like owning, but without the vet bills and responsibility that comes with a horse. So, my parents agreed to lease Noah for a couple months to see how it would go. Well, a couple months went by and I was ready to go the next step...owning a horse. At the time Noah was boarded at this barn by a college women that lived a while away from the barn. My mom got in contact of the women and asked if she was willing to sell Noah. Sadly, she wasn't.
A few weeks went by (and I was still leasing Noah) and my mom got an email from Noah's owner telling us that she really didn't have the time for him any more. Being in college and everything. I cried so hard when I found out she was going to sell Noah to us. She came up a couple weeks after that to see me ride him and made the sale. Noah was, is and always will be... mine.
My story says that if you have a dream or a goal, nothing should stop you from going after it. Stride for the best, and work hard for what you want. In the long run, you will reach that dream. Never, ever give up on a on it!
