Author note: I don't own any of these characters. They belong to Fox and the writers of Glee.
This is story explaining how Artie could come to Sugar's party, eventhough he didn't have a date. The way he was seated with Tina and Mike gave me this idea.
Friends on Valentine's day
"Hé Artie, wait." Mike called as Artie wheeled out of the choir room after Rory's performance of 'Home'. Everyone had seen how Sugar had chosen Rory to be her date for her party. Artie hadn't stayed around and had quickly taken his backpack and left the room. He heard Mike calling, but he didn't feel like answering, so he kept on rolling.
"Artie! Come on man, hold up!" Mike called, he and Tina hurried to catch up with him. When they had caught up with him, Artie finally stopped: "What? Do you want to rub it in, that I don't have a girlfriend?" Artie asked angrily, not realizing Tina was also there. He had assumed Mike had been following him alone. So when he saw Tina standing next to Mike, after he had turned his chair around, he wished he immediately regretted his outburst.
"No man. Come on, you know I'm not like that." Mike smiled slightly, he could understand Artie's frustration and outburst.
"We wanted to ask you to come to the party with us." Tina said, holding Mike's hand an placing her other hand on Artie's shoulder.
"Don't you want to spend the evening together?" Artie asked surly. Tina and Mike looked at each other, Artie could see their love for each other. Sighing Artie started to turn his chair away, but Tina stopped him with her hand on his shoulder. Tina smiled and turned back to Artie: "We will have time to spend together before and after the party. Besides that: Valentine's day is a day to spend with the people you love. There are many different ways of loving someone and friendship is one of those ways. Mike and I, we love you and we would like to spend the evening with you and all of our friends."
"We don't want our friends to be lonely on the international day of love. Last year we spend the evening with Rachel and Mercedes. We had a blast, it was really a lot of fun. This year we want to share this evening with you." Mike explained, also putting his hand on Artie's shoulder. Slowly Artie started to smile, then he placed his hands on theirs: "Okay, I'll join you at Sugar's party."
"Good. And this way you can keep your eye on Rory. Make sure he doesn't treat her like crap." Mike said smiling. "And if he does, you can be her knight in shining armor." Tina said, winking at Artie, then she became serious again: "Don't give up Artie. You might have lost this battle, but not yet the war for Sugar's heart."
"I won't give up." Artie said.
"Good." Mike put his arm around Tina, ready to head back to get the bags they had left in the choir room. "We will pick you up at eight and bring you back home afterwards. See you tonight Artie." Tina said before they turned away. As they walked past Artie he turned and called out once more, getting their attention: "Thank you guys." He said, he saw them smiling and waving. They were his friends and he couldn't be happier about that.
The end.
