25 years ago, the famous city of Saffron was decimated, the city was the largest and one of the busiest cities in Kanto, being famous even in other regions. But recently it's been brought back up again with a new name and attitude, "Neo-Saffron" it was now called. And it is a cyberpunk hell, something that looked like it was a 80's movie—neon lights and lasers instead of fire and brimstone.
It was also the home to biker gangs, cultists, corrupt capitalists and a bunch of other freaks. It was the perfect place if you wanted to see how bad humans can be. In the far away distance, a crater that once held the beginnings of an Olympic stadium—a sham, a false dawn—steams slightly as water from the bay pours in, covering the remnants of a massive cryonic unit that once held the remains of a god.
Wind pours in with the water, cutting the heat on the shore but dying when confronted with the hot megalithic towers of downtown. It is on that fell, far shore that Shigeru Okido looks up at the stars. Thinking about a certain chain of events that have changed everything.
The last week had been absolute hell for Shigeru. First, his best (ex? He's not sure-shooting someone with a laser kind of changes things, right?) friend Satoshi got himself in a accident with some kid, then was taken away by government agents for reasons he still couldn't figure out why. Not wanting to see his friend of over ten years dissected like a common tadpole Shigeru immediately set out to rescue him. But upon finding him, Satoshi turned on him and gotten mad with power, and went on a killing spree. ( HOW FUCKING GRATEFUL! )
And then he turned into some sort of horrible blob monster, and accidentally ate his own girlfriend. Then he disappeared into some weird vortex thing when some creepy dead kid in a jar revived himself, (hopefully) never to be heard from again. Then there were, those odd flashbacks that he saw when he was in that giant vortex. Which only made his mood worsen just thinking about it. Maybe if he hadn't returned Satoshi's plush back (which remembering now, kinda looked like a yellow fat mouse with red cheeks and pointy ears.) None of this would have happened. They would have never been friends, Satoshi would have never been a part of the Capsule Monsters, and the city wouldn't have explode.
Of course, there was also the nagging feeling that Satoshi's rants had a point. Was he really bossy? Was he such a bad leader that his own members wanted to overthrow him? No, no, he shouldn't be thinking about that. He had always tried to keep his members' best interests in mind - much unlike their rivals, the Rockets. Who would abandon their own members leaving them. Then there were groups like Team Flare who would even SACRIFICE their own members just for the sake of it. So Satoshi should've been grateful at least, for what he did for the gang...
But what bothered Shigeru was that it looked like Satoshi was planning this for a long time. He said things like, "Ever since we were little...," and, "...Always treating me like a kid." It sounded like he had been harboring a secret grudge against him the whole time. All these years, and he never noticed it! Never saw it coming! He didn't know if he was just stupid, or if Satoshi was good at hiding his feelings...
But that doesn't matter anymore, Satoshi was dead. That was a fact, maybe he should've been a better friend. He shouldn't had treated Satoshi below him for so long. But what can he do now? It was over.
