Kurz
A Death Note Fan-Fiction by Nosy Kretts
The earth was painfully uninteresting. Just like it always was. Kurz could not understand how Gelus could possibly take so much amusement in watching all those pathetic creatures crawl about like ants in a lush paradise that they did not even know what to do with. She sighed loudly, trying to make Gelus hear her boredom. Nevertheless, he simply kept staring down into his window to the human world, his patchwork face contorted with glee. Still if it was anyone's fault, it was her own.
She saw Gelus wandering off and decided to follow him rather than gamble with the other shinigami. At that time, anything seemed better than losing to those irritating twits (She had even worse luck than Sidoh the biggest idiot amongst them). It was only now that she began to regret that decision. She thought back to something that she once heard Gelus himself say: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do!" Kurz had no idea what a "rome" was or how adding an –an could change them into something else but still...
She stretched her left arm out behind her and pulled her Notebook out from its place of honor: a small rucksack squeezed in between her wings. Unlike most Shinigami, her large black bird-like wings were always visible and could not be folded into her back (This was not rare though not quite common amongst other Shinigami).
She pulled her painfully gothic finger-bone shaped pen out from behind her ear, squatted down next to Gelus' "window," and wrapped her tail around her as loudly as possible. Gelus jumped, startled by the noise. He started pitifully at her with his one eye, his patchwork hands together at his chest as if in a pathetic prayer for the worms below.
She glared back at him, daring him to say something anything in defense of the scurrying wretches below. She glared him down for a few more seconds then looked into the window for a victim, she then saw a man and a woman in extravagant clothing. The man was riding slowly atop large stupid-looking four-legged beast and the woman was walking ahead of him; he held two ropes one in each hand. The first was wrapped around the beasts head, the second was wrapped around the woman neck. She set her eyes on the woman's face and in an instant her name appeared above her head; Akira Victoria, Kurz mouthed the words silently analyzing each letter so as not to misspell it, as she stared intently into the woman's face Kurz noticed her eyes were bloodshot and puffy. As she hunched over her Notebook she heard Gelus make a pitiful squeak. She shot him another indignant look, how dare he even think of questioning her! He had no wings! He was flightless, and that made him lowest type of shinigami! And he questioned her?!? Her un-sheathable wings made her one the most respected types of shinigami!
At that moment, she heard a loud bang. Dignity forgotten Kurz leaned over the window desperately wanting to see what happened to her target. Akira Victoria had stopped walking and was staring back in shock at the man on the beast. The man suddenly slumped and fell off the beast, both ropes slipping out of his hands. At that moment two more men appeared. A small boy and a tall man in a large hat, the man was holding something in his hands, but Kurz did not notice as she was still focused on the woman, who was now running happily towards the two men. Gelus had torn his eyes away from the sickening scene and had now begun staring sadly at Kurz again.
Kurz glared down at them and tightened her grip on her pen. "Keep your stupid pets," She said resentfully to Gelus. As she skulked away, she heard Gelus let out a cheer. Kurz resisted the urge to hit him and instead walked away towards the place where the other shinigami were gambling, maybe it wasn't too late to join them after all...
