I always thought some of the characters are easily forgotten, like Janet who is always there for others, the strong motherly figure helping her friends through whatever awful time they have, taking their bad temper and snapping and pain... But she would also need someone to lean on sometimes! So here it is. Please let me know what you think!

A hug for Janet

«C'mere» the Colonel said, opening his arms. Janet hesitated but chose to take the offer. She needed it. Some days, her job just sucked...

She carefully lay her head on the man's chest and felt his arms gently close around her. Somehow, the burden on her shoulders lessened. For a moment, she could forget to be the head of the military medical facility, strong, responsible and alert at all time. For a moment she could just be Janet, a women in a man's arms. She sighed, contented.

«Oh god! This is the best place I've been since... well... for ages!» she smiled. He chuckled.

«Feel free Doc!» His arms tightened a little and he rocked gently on his feet.

«Colonel?» she asked. «Would you consider to marry me?»

«Yeah!» he laughed, looking down at her. «Like that would be a good idea!» She chuckled back, thinking of what a couple they would make, arguing and fighting all the time! He could be the sweetest of men, but she could never cope with his bad ass temper on a daily basis. And he would never accept her bossy ways either. Yeah, that would not work a week! Although Cassie would have loved to have him home. But joke aside, she could really do with a strong shoulder in her life. She relaxed a bit and he released the hug to look down at her face.

«Better now?» he asked.

«Yeah. But give it a couple more minutes, uh?» she boldly asked, cuddling back to him. He smiled and closed his arms again, squeezing her shoulder, his hand cradling her head to his chest. She could hear his heart, without her stethoscope. Feel his warmth, without a thermometer. She realized how much she missed someone in her life. Being the doc on the base and a teen's mom at home, she always had the responsibility of someone else's life. She loved these people who were depending on her, they were no anonymous patients, as it used to be in her former job. And it had a price. On the other hand, they were her friends and she wanted to be the one looking after them. But yeah. It was heavy sometimes... And right now, a hug was just what she needed.

I hope you liked it. Have a nice day!
