Official Disclaimer
The characters of Steve McGarrett, Danny Williams, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua and Max Bergman do not belong to me in any shape or form. I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.
The characters of Danielle 'Danni' Richardson, Caitlin 'Cait' Richardson and Francesco Riviera do however belong to me so please do not use without first asking permission.
Any other character who might pop up who you don't instantly recognise will probably belong to me as well. I'll hopefully catch them in time to put above though.
Author Note
Welcome to 'Love at first sight'. This is the first in an ongoing series which I affectionately refer to as the Model Saga or TMS when I'm feeling lazy.
As the title suggest this is a story where Steve and Danni fall in love at first sight and all the problems which goes with that such as concerned friends and family members, work, different lives ect ect and how they try and overcome it. If you are perhaps looking for an angst story than this one will not be for you as the love between Steve and Danni never falters.
This story, unlike many of my others, does feature male Danny as well as female Danni. Danni in this story is a well know supermodel while Danno is a Detective like in the series. I understand this may be complicated so to try and lessen that I will refer to Danni as Danielle except when she's being addressed in conversation.
This is set half way through the first season, probably about episode 10.
Anyway, not much more to say other than I hope you enjoy the story as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
Official Summary
Love at first sight had never been easy but it's especially difficult when you come from two completely different worlds. Part One
Sometimes a glance is all it takes for everything to change
"Seriously Danni, have you been listening to a single word which I've been saying to you over the past five minutes? What is so interesting that's got your attention?"
Danielle Richardson blinked as her older sister's irritated voice cut into her thoughts, scattering them.
"Over there" She said, nodding towards a group of people situated across from them who seemed to clustered around something. "What do you think is happening over there? Are they doing another event like they did yesterday afternoon? I don't remember seeing any promo posters up anywhere for something today." Danielle questioned, shifting on her sun lounger, lifting her upper body up so she was resting on her elbows, giving her a slightly elevated view.
She frowned slightly when one of the taller men who had been blocking her view finally shifted enough to produce a small gap, allowing her to see for the first time that the area they were surrounding was blocked off by yellow tape, the same yellow tape which Danielle had seen used on the various crime TV shows she watched when she found herself with some rare free time.
"That is most definitely not a promo event." Her sister answered her cryptically, sounding almost amused before she clearly softened enough to reply. "I forgot for the moment that you were still inside the hotel when the staff came around to explain what had happened."
Danielle waited impatiently as her sister lifted a slim, manicured hand to her face and lightly gripped the black frame of her designer sunglasses, lifting them up so they rested on the top of her dark hair. Her dark hazel eyes flickering around the crowded area before they focused fully on her sister when Danielle spoke, breaking the silence which had fallen between them.
"I know you like to always tell any story you have as dramatically as possible Caitlin but an actual answer would be kind of good right about now."
"And to think that people think that you are the patient one out of the two of us." Caitlin replied with a shake of her head before taking pity on her. "From what they said earlier, there has been a murder here this morning. I heard that someone was pushed off of one of the upper balconies, probably from the twentieth and that they landed where the crowd is gathered. I don't think they've taken the body away yet so that is why everyone is over there, taking pictures."
"A murder?" Danielle repeated in surprise, her large grey eyes widening into a look of barely concealed horror. "You're telling me that there has been a murder and the hotel hasn't even closed the area down for the investigation?"
"I thought they would have closed it down as well but I guess they don't want to risk losing the profits, Francesco was the one who told me what was happening, from what he was saying he was the one who discovered the body when his shift started so I guess if anyone was going to know what happened it would be him." Caitlin remarked with a casual shrug of her slim shoulders.
"Francesco?" Danielle questioned, rolling her eyes when Caitlin nodded towards the group of young women who was surrounding a young, grinning man who looked as though he was having the time of his life, no doubt making the most of his five minutes of fame to score as many numbers as he could. "Do I even want to know why you know the lifeguards name?" She pressed, sighing when Caitlin shot her a grin.
"A girl has to have some fun Danni, isn't that what a vacation to a different place is for? For a holiday romance with a handsome stranger before moving on?" Caitlin questioned back, raising her eyebrow at Danielle who sighed again, her eyes flickering over to the dark-haired man who was preening on the spot.
"You better ring your publicist when you get back so he can start trying to limit the damage when Francesco sells his story to the tabloids" Danielle replied back dryly before she focused her attention back on the crime scene with a thoughtful look.
"I probably should." Caitlin agreed after a slight pause.
"How do they know that it's a murder though? Couldn't the victim have simply fallen from the balcony or committed suicide? Maybe that is why they were on the twentieth floor to begin with or maybe they just drank too much and went outside for some fresh air and leaned out too far. Surely, that is a reasonable explanation rather then jumping straight to murder." Danielle pointed out.
"Look at you putting your Detective hat on, you should know that the police are treating it as a homicide, according to Francesco they are treating it seriously and have called in their elite team to deal with it." Caitlin informed her.
"They have an elite team out here?" Danielle asked in surprise, glancing back at her sister with a raised eyebrow.
"The team is called Five-O and they are apparently the Governor's own personal taskforce who were all handpicked for the position. It's ran by some sort of Commander who is part of the army or the Navy. They have a reputation for not only being the best at what they do but also for being the type of team who would shoot first and then query things later on. They wouldn't send a team like that for just any old case. You send a team like that in for murder." Caitlin remarked, frowning slightly as her eyes flickered towards the scene.
"I guess so" Danielle agreed, tilting her head to the side thoughtfully then she spoke looking at Caitlin again. "Do you think that the argument we had this morning might have something to do with that?" She asked, waving her hand towards the crime scene, her gaze not leaving her sister's. "Maybe we should speak to someone on the Five-O taskforce and tell them what we heard." She bit her lower lip when Caitlin merely shrugged at her remark before she settled herself back into her sun lounger, reaching up and pushing her sunglasses back down so her eyes were covered from view again.
"We could do that Danni" The older woman agreed. "But for the time being it would be better if we remained quiet about what we think we heard until we're actually asked about it. What we heard could be completely irrelevant to the case and as mentioning it could send them on a wild goose chase which would give the murderer the time they needed to escape. It's not out business to get involved. I'm sure that this Five-O team will find the person who is responsible and make them pay for what they did, no doubt with a bullet. We'll simply wait for them to come to us first. We are on the same floor as where it was occurred after all, they are bound to come asking question."
"But wouldn't it be up to them to decide whether it was a good lead to follow or not? We…" Danielle stopped speaking abruptly when Caitlin held up her hand at her in a classic stop sign.
"No Danielle" The brunette said sternly. "We came here to Hawaii on a much-needed vacation and vacations are meant to be relaxing, not stressful remember? I needed to take a short break from work and Dad thought it would be a good idea if you were out of the country while he dealt with your ex-boyfriend and getting your ex best friend out of your house. We have enough problems at the moment without adding a trip down to the Five-O offices to it. We'll speak to them if they come to us otherwise, we'll just continue as we have been doing. Understood?" She asked, waiting until Danielle nodded at her before she spoke again. "Good, now let's spend some time soaking up the rays and taking it easy before we head out for lunch."
Danielle watched as Caitlin leaned back in her chair, her expression making it clear that the conversation was over in her mind. She sighed silently, looking away and trying to hide the stab of pain her sister's careless words evoked in her. She leaned back as well in her chair, adjusting herself so she could still see what was happening at the crime scene, picking up her drink she took a long sip of the cold fruit smoothie before placing it back to the side of her, her thoughts whirling in her mind.
The crowd of people had finally been pushed back by some uniformed officers giving her a clear view of what was happening behind the yellow tape. She could see a small, plump Chinese man who was dressed in a navy-blue jumpsuit hunched down beside something which she assumed, given what Caitlin had told her, was the body of the victim. There were other men and women who were dressed in a similar fashion who were scanning the surrounding area most likely looking for evidence, while others were taking pictures.
Her eyes moved around them curiously before stopping at the sight of a tall man who was standing still amid the chaos, his head tilted slightly to the side, clearly listening to what the smaller blond man beside him was saying to him.
Danielle stared, unable to keep her eyes off of him, her heart was beating fast, almost uncomfortably so, while a feeling of butterflies burst into her stomach. The man was stunning looking, tall and muscled with tattoos peeking out from beneath the sleeves of his plain blue t-shirt. His hair was short and dark, matching the colour of the scruff on his face, a face which was perfect in her eyes.
In fact, if she was being honest with herself, then every weakness she had ever had when it came to men was in front of her in one package, the sight of him making her mouth dry.
"Do you know who that is Cait?" Danielle asked her sister, trying to keep her voice steady. She must have failed if the quick, searching look the other woman gave her before following Danielle's gaze, was any indication to go by. A knowing smile came to the older woman's face as she answered Danielle's question.
"The dark-haired man would be the Commander in charge of Five-O. I can't remember what Francesco said is name was but I'm positive that it began with an M or maybe it was a Mc?" She remarked with a slight frown on her face.
"He's the shoot first, think later on Commander that you mentioned earlier?" Danielle question, an undercurrent of surprise to her voice as she looked towards her sister in time to see the older woman nod at her.
"The very same one, he's a hottie, I'll give him that though he's not exactly the kind of man I would choose, now that blond beside him however is a completely different kettle of fish, have you seen the ass he has on him? It's a thing of sheer beauty, like a peach made for biting." She stated with a hum of appreciation, the comment causing Danielle to burst out laughing. Her sister's weakness for blond men was well known within their family, just the same as her weakness for dark haired men was.
Danielle looked back towards the two men, focusing her attention on the blond, her eyes dropping as he turned around to wave a hand towards the hotel. He may not have been her type but her sister had certainly been right when he had praised his ass. It was certainly a great one.
She shook her head, her eyes moving back to the Commander, vaguely aware as she watched him that she was digging her fingernails into the soft palm of her hand.
Now there was someone who she had to meet.
