Lost

I am going to narrate a funny thing that happened with me and my friends yesterday. Our summer vacation is on and we decided to go to a nearby place for a picnic with all our friends. It had been a long time since we last did so. Parents were, of course, not allowed as they would put a restriction on various things that we would have loved to do and this none of us would have liked. We wanted to enjoy ourselves and considered ourselves to have grown enough to take care of ourselves as well as our friends.

Anyway, as decided earlier, we all set out for the picnic in our car to a near-by 'Vishu Park'. We all had visited there before but either individually or with family but that was no fun. But we knew it would be a real fun to visit there together. There were swings of various sizes, slips of different shapes, four large fields and what more there was a lake where we could go boating. Now that wouldn't have been possible if our parents were here.

Food was to be taken from our home. It didn't matter whether it stayed hot, what mattered was that we should have lots of fun. Reaching there what we did first was to ride on each and every types of things available there, play and enjoy to our fullest till our stomach ached due to hunger. After lunch we played as much as our heart desired which would have been crushed down if our parents were here. Then we went around boating and playing hide-and-seek,discovering new items and what not. We probably did all kinds of mischief that were restricted at home.

Soon, evening arrived and with that our returning time too. The incident happened at this point of time. There were twenty two of us but while counting we found one missing. It was Siraj. The guy who was very fond of sleeping and slept wherever and whenever he could. So, we thought, probably he was busy sleeping somewhere and went round searching for him. But that was not to be. He was no where to be found. Not a whit of him. At this point in the entire day we felt the need our parents and understood their value in our life.

Then, after sometime, I saw a black head like something floating in the lake. My heart skipped a bit as I imagined it to be Siraj downed in the lake. I took a deep breathe and jumped into the water and swam as fast as I could to reach him. At last I caught him by the head and dragged him. But while doing so I felt a bit strange—he was as light as a pillow. I took him out and found it to be a burnt earthen pot.

At this point of time, we heard a loud laugh followed by Siraj hailing us from behind us. He said he had went to see how it felt to be lost.
