Leafstar blinked her eyes open. She immediately jumped up, her hackles raised. Where was she? It took her a moment before it all came back to her. She had died.

Again.

But where was she now? She had died once - sending her to Starclan, to rest with the cats that had passed on before her. It she had never heard of a Starclan cat that had died before!

The world around her was black, with only the soft twinkling stars providing any type of light. She couldn't see anything, and even more alarming, couldn't smell anything. What good was a cat without smell?

"Ah, I am alone no longer." Leafstar jumped in the air, spinning around, her clothes went to open her mouth, but couldn't make anything come out. "Do not worry, Leafstar. You are safe here. You are not the first cat to join me here."

Leafstar was frozen in fear. "Now, I am here to give you new life. Bluestars' kit came to me after she died - oh, you wouldn't know Bluestar. Her name has been lost to the sands of time. But her kit came to me, it's life taken from it so young. And then, he died in The battle between the dark forest and Starclan. Oh, he was so young..."

The voice was choked up. "He came here, the first soul to come to me. My name is Rock. The cat that lies beneath the ground. Some may call me Mother Earth, but I do not like to be picky over titles. I am the soul responsible for the fresh kill in your stomach - the cat that runs rivers through your territories. I am the cat that is responsible for your lives."

Leafstar was still scared, but interested. The cat that was Earth? It sounded like a kits tail!

"My tail is true, my kit. Do not worry. You are now going to get your second chance. You are going back to the world you used to walk in. No longer will you be worried with prophecies and omens. You will go back, be a kit again. You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your clan, so now you get to be reborn, to live your life again."

Leafstar's eyes struggled to stay open. Why was she suddenly so tired? She had to stay awake! She had to here the rest of the tail!

"Sleep now, my kit. And thank Starclan for your second chance. Goodbye my child. Rest easy."

"Look, she is so beautiful..."

Leafstar could here the voices of people. She was warm, and could smell the scents of so many cats. For some reason, she couldn't open her eyes. The voices seemed to be talking to each other.

"Look! That one looks like you!"

A small purr escaped one of the cats lips - she couldn't tell which.

"What are you going to name her?"

A long pause followed.

"I think I am going to name her Leafkit."
