"I'll be your dream,
I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy,
I'll be your hope,
I'll be your love be everything that you need,
I love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do"
A huge ball of gases and heat was burning brightly over the horizon, ever so slowly slipping behind the gently undulating waves. It blazed up a bright red in what seemed a last minute attempt to pour light over its children before sliding far away to the other side of the world, not to be seen again until dawn.
Two bodies were huddled closely together, the slightly warm sand drawn up around their feet, a blanket drawn around them as they sat silently, hardly daring to breathe. It was the most beautiful sight, one that they could never tire of, no matter how many times they had seen it.
Brushing some of her dark hair behind her ear, which was now cut in cute little layers that fell all around her face, Nita Callahan sighed happily. Every year, on this day, she and her partner came to watch the sun go down. It had more sentimental value to them than watching it from anywhere else; they had fond memories of this beach. Meeting S'ree, performing the Song of Twelve, finally admitting to her parents that she was a wizard, having that weight lifted off her...
The same went for Christopher Rodriguez, or Kit, as he liked to be called. Though he hadn't had a very large part in the Song of Twelve, meeting S'ree had been a good experience, and had given him experience in living in another shape. Every time they came to this place, however, one feeling returned to him: fear. What he had felt when he had almost lost Nita.
Kit didn't know what he'd do without her. She was his partner, but she was more than that. His best friend...
Even more. Kit loved Nita, he loved her more than he thought he should ever love one person. His entire life had included her since five years ago, when he had been twelve. She was the center-point of his being, his reason for existence.
~Whoa, hold on there.~
Sometimes, he found that he felt a little _too_ deeply about her. Nita would never see him as more than a friend. A pang of regret always followed this thought, but he knew he would have to accept it. After all, he was partially content with just being around her.
"Kit?" She asked, pressing her hand over his questioningly. He'd gotten lost in his thoughts again.
"Huh? What?"
Nita smiled, the gesture washing over her entire face and lighting her eyes. "You're so absent minded." She poked him in the gut playfully. "Thinking, again?"
"Yes."
The last glimmer of the sun was gone now, and Nita stared regretfully after it. All that was left was some rust-colored clouds and a lingering memory. "Kit?"
"Mmm?" He mumbled, drawing her a little closer to him as he felt her shiver.
"I... I want you to know..."
~I love you. I love you. Say it, Nita!~
"No need, Neets... I can hear."
Lightly placing two fingers under her chin, he tilted her face toward his and gently pressed his lips on hers.
~I love you too, Neets.~
They broke apart, Kit's arms still wrapped around her body.
"This is how it'll always be, then?" She whispered, pressing her forehead onto his shoulder.
"Forever. Me and you."
