A/N: This has very little cannon if any, there is no Robin, No Artemis, No Batman. Just normal people. Warning this deals with serious issues.
Dick walked up to his best friend, Artemis Crock "Hey, Arty" he called out, she turned to him, he was going to help her forget what happen this morning "Hey Dickie" she greeted, he groaned, he hated her nickname for him
They walked to Gym but before they could go in she stopped in her tracks, Dick turned to her "Arty?" he asked, she sighed "Let's skip this class" she said seriously, Dick cocked his head "…Why?" He asked, She scratched her sleeve of her long sleeve shirt "Because… Gym sucks" she joked
He walked closer to her "Arty, What's going on" he asked, she didn't answer. He softly put his hand on her arm, she winced at his touch, he looked at her reaction to her touch. He quickly pulled up her sleeve to reveal several bruises on her arm
"Arty? Who the Fuck did this to you?" he almost yelled, she looked away "Artemis!" He did yell this time, tears dripped down her face, "My Dad" she muttered, she said it quietly but Dick heard both words. He was furious, he ran his hands through his hair
He grabbed her hand and started leading her somewhere "Dick…" She asked, he shook his head muttering something under his breath "Dick… Please" she said slightly louder, Dick skidded to a stop and turned to her
"Artemis, I care about you... I can't let you get hurt, we're leaving and you're not going back there" he grabbed her hand again and they snuck out together and had Alfred pick them up. After Dick explained what was going on he let Artemis stay for as long as she wanted.
She sat on a couch, Dick walked into the room and sat right next to her, he put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer, she put her head on his chest and let her tears flow, she cried herself to sleep in Dick's arms. Dick carried her bridal style into a empty room and let her sleep
Later after Dick had taken a shower there was a loud banging at the door, Dick jogged to the door "I got it, Al" he called, he opened to door to Lawrence Crock, hiccuping and reaking of beer, Dick narrowed his eyes
"What?" Dick hissed, Lawrence chuckled to himself "Where is she you little shit" he hiccuped in the middle of sentence. "Get. The. Fuck. Off. My. Property." Dick growled, "Who the hell do you think you are!" he yelled, this got the attention of Alfred "Someone who doesn't want to see Artemis get hurt" he spat
Lawrence cocked his fist back and swug at Dick, Dick caught his fist and head-butted him, boy those self defense classes paid off he thought to himself as he pushed Artemis's dad to the ground "Stay away from her"he hissed as he slammed the door in his face.
He turned to see Artemis rushing toward him, to his surprise she crashed her lips into his, this caught him off guard but he kissed back. She reluctantly pulled away from him "Thank you" she muttered, she saw the whole the whole thing.
