Yay, my first Chiley fic! Well, the first one I'm publishing at least. I just had one line of this stuck in my head (the summary, in fact) and decided to write a fic for it. Thanks and enjoy Sometimes.

Sometimes

It wasn't a very good day. They'd been swamped at the café, had a new monster attack when they should've been on their lunch break, and to make matters worse, Chase broke his wrist during the fight. Kendall wrapped it up for him and assured him that it would heal within the week due to his bond with the Black Energem, but it didn't change the fact that it hurt right now.

Riley offered to stay with Chase that night and help out with things now that he couldn't really use his right hand. After a dinner of oven-baked pizza and flat soda –basically the only things Chase had in his refrigerator –they settled down on the tiny couch to watch a movie.

About halfway through the movie that neither of them were really watching, Riley scooted closer to Chase, making sure he didn't jostle his injured hand. He just wanted to be close to him, now more than ever. Chase ran his good hand through Riley's hair, just listening to him breathe.

"Sometimes I wish we weren't Rangers," Riley admitted softly.

"What?" That was . . . unexpected.

"Sometimes, like now, I wish we were just two normal guys," Riley explained. "If we were, you wouldn't have gotten hurt today."

Chase thought about it for a moment. "If we weren't Rangers, you'd still be at your family's ranch. We never would've met."

"You're right," he sighed. "But I don't like seeing you get hurt."

Chase gently tilted Riley's head up to look at him. "Look, we're fighting evil space monsters; we're going to get hurt. But that doesn't mean I won't do everything I can to protect you."

"I just wish you didn't have to."

As Chase leaned down a bit to kiss his boyfriend, he couldn't help but secretly agree. Things would be easier of they weren't Rangers. But he'd been right earlier; if they hadn't become Power Rangers, they wouldn't have met each other. And he wouldn't trade that for all the safety in the world.

I just absolutely adore Chiley and I think that Chase is secretly a big romantic softie at heart. Wouldn't that be just the cutest thing ever? Thanks for reading!
