YAY! Another drabble! 380 words! No more no less than 380. Anyway, this one comes with a dedication. It's to my girlfriend Anna! I love you, Anna!
Disclaimer: I do not own the Suite Life series.
It was the last dance of the night before the dance was over, and Zack Martin was sitting at the side of the floor while his girlfriend danced with another guy. He didn't mind though. After all, the one person he actually wanted to be there, well, wasn't.
He had put on his best tuxedo for her in hopes that she would show, but she had let him down. Broke the promise she had made so many years previously.
As he watched Mr. Moseby and Ms. Tuttweiler dance, thoughts swam through his mind. 'Did she just forget?' 'What if she stood him up on purpose?' 'Did she not actually mean it?' 'Could she not make it?' 'Maybe she didn't think I remembered.' 'Why isn't she here?' was the last one before he couldn't take it anymore. He sent a glance to Maya to let her know he was leaving and he stood up. He looked around the room for a final time before heading back to his own.
He entered the room, blinded by tears, although he'd deny the fact he was crying later, and laid down on his bed, facing away from the doorway. He laid there for a few minutes before a click from the doorway signified that someone had entered the room.
"Go away." Zack said, not really wanting to talk to anyone.
"Why would I do that?" A familiar voice asked. "I do have a promise to keep after all."
Zack rolled over, coming face-to-face with the only girl he actually wanted to be with that night. "Maddie?" he asked.
"Who else would I be?" The blond girl smiled, and Zack sat up.
"Please tell me I'm not dreaming." He said, standing and walking towards her. He was almost her height now, something he was grateful for.
"No, you're not. I made a promise, and I intend to keep it." He smiled at her, and then held out his hand.
"Well then, may I have this dance?" he asked her. She took his hand and grinned at him in a way he never thought he'd see again, and it only took a split second for him to fall in love with her all over again.
"It would be my honor."
