There's No Such Thing As A Broken Heart
Disclaimer: Lil Miss Mad does not own Death Note.
When Misa was a little girl her mother told her many wise things that still now Misa thinks about, replays in her head, and lives by. Whenever she has to, she remembers them, and calls upon the guidance in the dead woman's words to ensure she's never caught off guard.
"There is no such thing," she was told aged just seven, "as a broken heart. You remember that now."
Misa had giggled and continued to draw in crayon a portrait of her new rabbit. It was white as snow with large drooping ears and she loved it. But now, as she sits on a park bench as an adult, she can't recall what it had been named.
When Misa was eight, the rabbit died. She'd sobbed and sobbed, wailing and slamming her tiny fists into the walls, shrieking at the top of her not-yet-matured voice, her throat sore from the shouts of dismay. She really had loved that rabbit. But her mother hadn't soothed her, hadn't apologised for no reason or offered to host a loving memorial service for the loyal pet. She'd simply said, "Stop crying girl, there's no such thing as a broken heart" and walked away.
In the present, as she walks away from the park with male teenagers behind her whispering "Was that Misa-Misa?", she thinks about Light.
He's busy at the taskforce. No time for Misa today. She's alone to do whatever she wants. He hasn't hugged her, kissed her, even touched her in a while but that's okay, she's fine with that. Of their own accord, tears stream down her face and she can almost hear her mother's heartless scolding again.
There's no such thing as a broken heart.
Well if that's true, why does this feel like one?
