Point of No Return

"Seriously, Leo,"Raphael threw his hands up in a sign of surrender, "It wasn't me this time. Swear it. "

Leonardo nodded his head, face unreadable.

"I know," Raph conceded,"...I've made the mistake before, but not this time. So don't even get on my shell for what happ-"

"I know it wasn't you, Raph."

"Yeah,"Raph crossed his arms over his plastron, suddenly defensive,"...you do?"

Leonardo nodded.

"And how'd you s'pose that?"

Leo shrugged.

Raphael warily eyed Leo's neutral expression, frowning. Obviously, Leonardo knew something he didn't, and not being in the loop about it irritated him.

"Well, Fearless, you got somethin' to tell me, then?"

Leonardo looked into Raphael's face and smiled in a means of being placating,"What do you want to know, Raph?"

"Oh, I don't know, Leo. Maybe, like, who done it then or something!"

Leo chuckled under his breath, his expression turning sly,"Well, why didn't you just ask me?"

"Leo," the warning came out as a growl, "...I'm warning you. You be-"

"It was me."

The confession stopped Raphael in his tracks. For a moment, Raphael merely stared wide-eyed at Leonardo who wore a toothy grin.

"Come again?"

Leonardo's dark eyes seemed to twinkle with a foreign light as he repeated, slower this time,"It was me, Raph. I did it."

This seem to jolt Raphael out of his stupor. Pointing a thick, green finger at Leonardo, he all but exclaimed,"There is no way you did it, Leo. Cut the crap!"

"But I did!"

"Not possible! No way... he's gonna kill you when he finds out!"

"What, are you gonna go tattle on me, then?"

"No!" Raphael shouted indignantly and then righted himself,"...you've lost your marbles, Leo. Come on, you really had to do this. Really?"

Leo smiled as he looked at his ruffled brother and walked to meet Raphael at the doorway and glanced in one last time, enjoying the sight of his handiwork, "Looks nice, huh?"

"I guess,"Raphael agreed before walking off to his own bedroom, though he lingered inside the doorway,"...I just hope your ready for the consequences, Bro."

Leo gave his brother an unconvinced look.

"Why's cleaning Michelangelo's room such a big taboo, anyway. You've done it before, right?"

"And I never did it again."

Leonardo gave a snort, heading off for the dojo to perform his routine katas.

"Well, he's just going to have to deal, then."

"Well," Raph supplied,"...you have passed the point of no return, so I tip my hat to ya. It was nice knowing you."

And with that Raphael disappeared into his room.

"Whatever, Raph."
