He's brave. Wild, exuberant, and free. His dirty blond hair always blowing in the wind or placed at awkward angles. I'd always think that maybe his hair would fall off his head one day just to have an adventure of its own. I'd say that it was jealous that it couldn't roam around distant lands, and fight away all evil. I know I was jealous. I wanted to feel the crunch of foreign soil underneath my feet, the winds of a different place, a different land. But I couldn't. I was the farmer's daughter, Malon, the girl who trained horses and whose father was known for taking naps at markets and palaces. She didn't hate her life, no. But she wished for one with more excitement. One with fairies and green tunics, swords, monsters, and damsels in distress. Well, maybe not damsels.
She loved the way he stood out. His tunic and hat, the color of forests. A fairy who tended to be obnoxious, always floating over his shoulder. He'd stand out in a crowd, but a crowd was usually around where ever he went. Being a 'Hero of Hyrule' tends to make someone pretty popular. She was never part of the crowds though. She wished she could. She wanted to be one of the socialite girls, the ones that swooned over the 'lovely' hero. The ones that bragged that they had managed to catch his eye for a moment, even if it was an accidental glance.
She loved his visits. She knew he was coming before she even heard his footsteps. The soft blue glow of his mythical companion, warned her beforehand. He'd wave and smile warmly, his hand wrapped around Epona's reins. He was always quiet though, he always had been. He preferred the use of body language, she had guessed. But when he did speak, he always managed to awe her with what he'd say. You'd think that the words that would come from a man who was a swordsman would usually be cocky, or about his brawns. No, that wasn't him. He was intelligent, and every time he spoke, she tucked the words away in her brain, to remember forever. The one time he managed to awe her the most was when he came in, a day after her mother's funeral, and saw her crying. She saw him come in, and quickly wiped away her tears. She was ashamed, to cry over something that had happened so long ago, when he had been through much worse. He had sat beside her, silently for a few minutes. Then he looked towards me, and moved his arms back from his torso, as if inviting me. I flew into his chest spilled out my thoughts. "I hate myself!" I yelled. "All I can do is farm! That's all I'll be known for! Malon! The girl that knows how to clean up cow crap! That girl that people say gives herself to each new male customer! The one that can't even go in town without people whispering behind her back!.." And I had run out of breath. I couldn't speak, just sob. Then he slowly pried me away from his chest and held my shoulders gently. "The girl who milks cows and tames horses is not an oaf, a harlot, or someone who is only skilled at one thing. She is intelligent, pure of heart, and knows many things I wish I did. Her eyes are soft and her hair is the color of the setting sun. She can play an ocarina better than the Hero of Hyrule." He had said, staring into her eyes with all honesty.
He then pulled her into an embrace and had told her:
"And I wish for her to be my wife someday."
Do you like my first one-shot/fanfic? Well this isn't my first fanfiction but the first fanfictions that I made were very stupid and had many errors so I deleted them. I don't really like this pairing as much as I do Dark Link and Malon (Speaking of which, you should check out 'Shadow Bound' awesome Dark/Malon Fic!) Well please give me your thoughts on my story! And I hope you enjoyed ;D
