AN: So I was watching Journey's End, and I thought that the Doctor should have hugged Donna after he hugged Rose. I mean, she thought he was gonna die too, she was upset, she should have gotten a hug. And not one from Jack, not that Jack isn't awesome. It's short, but then again, all of my fics are short. Anyway, here ya go!
The heartbeat thudded in her ears…
They were captured, and would probably die once they reached the Dalek Crucible.
The Doctor was reunited with Rose at last, and even though Donna was happy for him, she couldn't stop the pangs of jealously from filling her heart.
The Doctor was talking, Rose and Jack were replying, but she couldn't hear them. She could hear nothing but the heartbeat, calling to her, summoning her for a purpose unknown…
All of a sudden, the Doctor was right in front of her. He gently put his hands on her shoulders.
"Donna. I'm sorry, there's nothing else I can do."
She seemed to snap out of a trance.
"No, I know."
"You alright?"
She nodded, and he looked into her eyes, disbelieving, and abruptly pulled her into a hug.
She returned the hug, and whispered in her ear-
"It's alright, we'll be fine."
He pulled back, and she nodded again. He turned towards the door, Jack and Rose followed.
Donna could have sworn that that hug felt more than just friendly. It gave her a tiny fragment of hope, that maybe he had moved on from Rose…
Any further thought diminished as once again, she heard that heartbeat….
