Disclaimer: I don't own House characters or the song We Might As Well Be Strangers by Keane. Or feel the touch that I adore
I don't know your face no more
Gregory House threw his ball up towards the ceiling again. The beats of the song strung into his ears through his MP3 player, he was thinking of her again. It drove the doctor insane, but somehow he loved it too. Everything reminded him of her, even a heart as cold as his could love someone.
I don't know you face no moreIt's just a place I'm looking for
Still, he was constantly reminded of how he couldn't get anywhere with her. She was so much younger than him, so much more deserving of someone exactly the opposite of him. She had already been married before. She was widowed before she was 30.
We might as well be strangers in another townWe might as well be living in a different world
We might as well
She had been through so much. He wasn't worth a minute of her time, but still he wished she would show any interest. He knew she had liked him for a while, but it seemed as if she didn't care much anymore. He had blown it with her. No one wants to die alone. Not even House.
I don't know your thoughts these daysWe're strangers in an empty space
He was so different to her. He was an old wretch who had his chance in love and went sour. She was a beautiful young woman who deserved so much better. He threw the ball again, hoping he would hit the ceiling; maybe it would be some release.
I don't understand your heart
It's easier to be apart
At that moment, that exact thought which ran through House's mind, Allison Cameron walked through House's office's door. She raised her chocolate eyes from her documents to meet his piercing blue eyes; she seemed so innocent, not knowing anything House had just thought about her. She seemed as if she had not a care in the world as she smiled sweetly at him. Without a second thought, she had disappeared into the conference room.
He was amazed by her grace. Again.
For all I know of you now…
