Our Last Dance

This is our last dance, my little one
Perchance, this was meant to be,
Oh time, oh haste, all you be gone,
Leave us this last taste of glee.

From time to time our worlds collide,
The clash between dark and light,
And from time to time you defied
The love I held – so stained by blight.

Ah! What horrible fate we hold,
For us to suffer such torment
In time, our sad tale would be told
To lovers, young and imprudent

I kissed you, I held you,
I loved you so much,
Against the world we were,
But we didn't care.
-----------------------
After all that,
How come it ended up as such?
Broken and painful –
What part of that was fair?

So as we take our last steps,
In this frightful dance,
Let me hold you one last time,
And in hushed words, whisper:

"Never will I forget
This scornful play of chance,
From our forbidden love,
