Before everything we were kids,
Jumping around like everyone did,
There was no heart break, grieve, or sorrow,
Just falling asleep to awake tomorrow,
There was the park and the swings,
And at noon the ice cream truck would ring,
There was the best friends and the crushes,
The giggles and little girl blushes,
Stormy days equaled mud and fun,
But hating to have to bath once your done,
The butterfly's and the monster trucks,
The cookies and the four leaf clovers luck,
Drawing with sparklers, crayons, and markers,
Just to erase it and draw it darker,
Sunday morning cartoons ,
And helium filled ballons,
Then growing up and moving on,
But still singing to a childhood song,
Mom and dad are loved but gone,
you've grown and become strong,
And then you remember the days of the past,
The faint memorys that always last,
Your future is hidden in a box,
Which will open in time with the ticking of the clock,
You will age and open the lid ,
just to smile and say ill always be a kid!
