Almost Confessions of Neal Caffery

Part One:

Neal Caffery was twenty when Agent Peter Burke brought him in for theift. Peter never knew that he would have a reationship, partnership or whatever you call what they have.

Peter sat down with papers and his hand and he was amazed that Neal still had a amused look on his face. "I'm Agent Burke." Peter told Neal.

Neal smirked, "I know. And I asume you know that I am Neal Caffery."

"I do."

"So, are you going to tell me why I am here or are you waiting for the tea, Peter?"

"You were at the Smithsonian Institution, two days ago?"

"Yes. I was babysitting. The little girl history. I brought her there, my treat." Neal replied.

"Something went missing in the Freer Gallery of Art two days ago. Well, techinally it was forgered piece art work. Do you know what I'm talking about ?"

"Neal, please." He smiled. "Umm...I'm sorry Agent Burke, I have no clue what you're talking about, so I don't know how I can you today."

Peter rolled his eyes.

"Well, since thats all I think I'm going to go."

Now, Peter was a little mad. He was sure that Caffery had something to do with it but he had no proof.

"I'm sure, I'll see you again, Agent Burke." Neal said with a hint of cockyness in his voice. "I hope you find that painting."

Neal got up and left the room smiling. He took the painting. He sold to Alex and she took it to Italy to resell it. SO, Neal was sure if Peter found the painting, he couldn't trace the painitng back to him.

Peter leaned against the glass wall as Neal Caffery walked away.

His boss was next to him, "I told you that Caffery was good. Each one of my agents tried to get him, we never do."

"I will. One day." Peter said. He was sure he would see the cocky con arist again.

"You're not the first to say that, Burke."

His boss walked away, just as Peter saw Neal stopping at a Agent's desk. Neal smiled as he spoke to the older agent. "He tried. Not yet." Peter overheard Neal say as he walked back to his desk. "Well, tell the wife and kids I said hi, Bobby. I am sure, I will see you again."

"Bye, Neal." Agent Bobby Mann said.
