"Look I'm Mummy!" cried the small, dirty blonde haired girl, lifting her arms and flapping them excitedly.
Delphine looked up and chuckled slightly, the girl was wearing Cosima's lab coat which was far too big for her so that the sleeves touched the ground as walked. Adorning her feet were a black pair of Cosima's high heels to which Delphine wondered how the little girl could walk in them and upon the top of her head were Delphine's protective goggles which in her daughters excitement fell off her head, "Huh," She mumbled, her lab coat covered hands reaching her head and upon not finding the goggles where she had placed them she spun around, finding them on the ground she pulled at the sleeves of Cosima's white coat till her hands appeared and she picked up the plastic glasses, almost losing Cosima's real ones as she did so. She pushed the oversized black rimmed glasses back up her small nose, holding Delphine's goggles in her hand, "See! I'm Mummy!" She said with a big grin.
Delphine picked up the little girl, "What are you researching Doctor Niehaus-Cormier?" She asked, lifting her daughter onto her lap.
"I'm looking for the medicine to make Mummy better!" She said, constantly pushing Cosima's glasses up as they were far too big for her and took up half her face.
Delphine internally 'awww'd at the little girl, stroking her wavy hair, "And what have you found?"
"Well, when Mummy gets sad, she gets sick, so we have to keep her happy so she doesn't get sick," She explained simplistically in a way that only a child could, also waving her arms around as she spoke, much like Cosima, but nearly hitting Delphine several times with the flying sleeves of the coat.
"And what, from your research, have you concluded?"
"To keep her happy we can let her sleep in really late on weekends and make pancakes for breakfast and she can eat in bed. And, then we can all play together and Mummy can have my elephant is she wants too!"
Delphine couldn't help but smile at the girls innocent and child like view of Cosima's illness.
"That is a wonderful plan mon ange," Delphine replied, looking over the girls head to where she knew Cosima stood in the doorway.
Delphine and Cosima gazed at each other silently and their daughter, wondering why her mothers attention was no longer on her, looked to where Delphine was looking, "Mummy!" She cried happily, jumping off Delphine's lap and walking carefully in Cosima's shoes to hug her, "Look! I'm you!" She beamed.
Cosima smiled and knelt down to be the girls height, "Hi Munchkin," she greeted, "You do look like me," she commented, "but let's fix these up," She said, rolling up the sleeves of the lab coat, "because otherwise you wont be able to run your experiments if you can't use your hands."
The girl nodded, "Are you happy Mummy?"
"Of course I'm happy Love," Cosima said with a big smile, "And thank you for looking after these for me," Cosima said, taking her glasses carefully off her daughters face and putting them on, watching the world come into focus, "I was wondering where they went to."
"Can we have pancakes?"
Cosima looked up at Delphine as she walked towards her, "I don't know, how about we have your Mamma for breakfast?" She joked, giving Delphine a knowing look.
"No!" Their young daughter cried out instantly.
"Your Mummy is very cheeky isn't she?" Delphine said, hugging Cosima.
Cosima just grinned and pulled their little family together for a hug.
