In the depths of everyone's heart there is a lurking darkness. We're never consciously aware of it but it's there alright, continually egging us on, telling us to do that thing that we know we shouldn't. But some people give in to their darker temptations, they let it consume them and control them. That night I gave in and what I did has been haunting me ever since.

This is my first fanfic so please be kind! Please ignore the incredibly corny summary!

Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist no matter how much I wish I did! It belongs to the amazing Hiromu Arakawa minus any OC's I might put in!

Chapter 1 -The Running Coward-

"Get back here you thief!" yelled a rather angry looking shopkeeper.

Seriously some people are really thick! Do they seriously think I'm going to just stop and say "Oh sorry about that, you can arrest me now sir!" hmmm what about NO! Now when I woke up this morning I fully admit that I wasn't set on stealing this bag of apples, pears...and some grapes as well but seriously when you're as hungry as I am and a bag is just sitting there, well, FOOD!

Now stealing right in front of some guards probably isn't the most brilliant idea but I was confident that I could lose them, what I didn't count on was that there would be a state alchemist there as well. My luck never ceases to amaze me!

"Officers!" I heard the shopkeeper yell from behind me. "Help me catch that thief!"

I expected to hear the thundering sound of boots coming after me but instead I heard a loud boisterous voice proclaim something like Alex Louis somethingerather the 3rd. Now I was thinking hell yeah I'm free and clear! hmmm not quite. The ground below me suddenly started to shake and rumble until all of a sudden a large crack appeared below me, trapping my feet in the ground.

My knee smacked onto the pavement with a rather painful sounding crack and then when I thought fate couldn't screw me over anymore, I was proved wrong yet again and the sound of thundering boots could be heard coming towards me. Unfortunately for me not only was my leg most likely broken, I was on the verge of unconsciousness and I was about to be arrested, my hand slipped in another crack and my head plummeted towards the very hard and extremely painful looking ground.

My vision turned dark and I slipped away.

Really short I know but my homework is glaring at me sooo...

Who wants to be generic and say that our Shorty midget alchemist was the one who caught her when I can have Major Sparkles!

I've yet to give her a name but if anyone actually reviews you can put in your ideas! now onwards to the awaiting horror of DUN...DUN...DUN.. homework!
