But She Was Happy

~By spbulma

· This fanfic isn't exactly a Vegeta and Bulma fic, but I just had to include it, because it definitely is a great piece of work. A warning: If you are a Trunks and Maron fan, then don't read it, but if you like the idea of Trunks and Pan…

Today was one of those days that reminded you it was winter season. The diverse types of snowflakes covered the environment, each unique in its on way.

Trunks walked down the park. He saw many people: families, couples, or just people. He stared at the snow-covered pine trees, and that was when he heard her voice.

"Trunks! Trunks-chan!"

He looked back, turned around, and saw the familiar face of Gohans' daughter, Pan.

She looked at Trunks, her eyes shimmered. He smiled.

She was happy.

Pan ran up to him. "Trunks-chan! It has been so long since I've seen you! I have to talk to you… "

Her black eyes stared at the sky. She didn't see him in a long time… she had only stared for hours at pictures of them in their adventures for the black star dragon balls, but then it ended and…

"Pan?"

"Oh… sorry"

"So, tell me…"

And so they started to walk down the park. She looked at him. Trunks looked at her in the eyes. He had always seen her like a sister, but now it was different. And there he noticed she was anxious. Something was… so strange… maybe… sad?

But she was happy

"Trunks, you're like a brother to me… so I thought I'd let you in o something very important going on in my life…"

Her voice quivered.

He was silent.

"I'm… getting married"

He let the words sink in.

For a moment, her eyes locked into his, and they had an intense feeling, as if trying to tell him something. He felt time slow down completely.

"Trunks? What do you think?"

Trunks took a deep breath. Then let it all go.

"Do you love him?"

"With all my heart"

She looked at the ground. Liar! Trunks thought. But then it all came to him. All those memories crossed his mind, all those adventures they had. They protected each other, all that time. They did everything together. In fact they belonged together! He could've sworn she loved him. He was such a fool… now she was leaving him… slipping away from him… and he couldn't do anything! Was she so blind to notice she was killing him? !

Pan looked at him. Trunks. Once she fell for him. He was always doing something dumb or stupid that made her love him even more. But Trunks saw her as a sister, not the way she wanted to. How Pan wanted to tell him! Her life revolved around him and now… she was… marrying someone else! Someone who did tell her "I love you"… and now, her untold affection for Trunks would have to remain a secret… all that sweet suffering for him would be a whisper in her soul…

They looked at each other.

Pan, so stubborn.

Trunks, so quiet.

He could go and tell her to give him a chance. Tell her what an idiot he was, for not telling her his love for her. He could've unlocked the secret of his heart…

She smiled at him, trying to hide the pain. Goodbye… If only you knew…

Yes, he could've done that.

But she was happy.
