plane- layer: 15

(Lain) If I do it, I can really write myself back in.

(Title) PLANE - Layer:15

(Words) No, it must be done. I must re-enter the real world.
(Lain) You know, in a way, I'm glad that mistakes exist. Not all mistakes, no, that wouldn't be right.
(Mask) Hehehe, just what do you mean, Lain?
Lain's face finally peirces the darkness with a smile on her face.
(Lain) It's simple! Hehehe! It's just that some mistakes have led to some of the greatest events in our history (Lain) and without those mistake having been happening, I mean, if the world was too perfect, we wouldn't (Lain) be the way we are. But, wait, if therewere no mistakes, we would have ended up a different way. (Lain) Probably happy or happier as a result.
(Mask) Lain, you speak as if we were a part of that world, but remember, we are not.
Mask is this floating black metallic mask with hollow eyes.
(Lain) Not yet we aren't.
Lain closes her eyes and suddenly an aura appears around her body. Everything in the non-existant world starts to shift and warp. The peircing sound starts to get louder and louder. The light growing ever so brighter.
Stop.

The bright light fades out through the bright sunny day in the real world. There are people walking past in non-biased conversation, the best kind.
(Words) You can exist, here.
The figure of Lain suddenly appears in a fetal position on the ground near the playground of an old elementary school. The sounds of past school children seem to permeate her ears as she slowly stands up and put her face in her hands, almost weeping.
(Lain) Please, be quiet.
The sounds continue to get louder until Lain couldn't take it anymore.
(Lain) Would you please shut the hell up?!
The sounds stop and Lain falls to her knees, silently. Her empty eyes ironically full of something; Something beautiful.
(Mask) What are you thinking about, Lain? How do you feel?
(Lain) I feel...numb...
(Mask) Do you feel...you...exist?
(Lain) No... not that. I have to re-establish myself in the real world.
Lain began to stand up.
(Lain) I have to go...I must establish...myself again.
(Mask) But you seem weak.
(Lain [aggressive] ) Why the hell do you care?
Lain began weeping.
(Mask) Hmmm...... seems the transformation was too much for you.
Lain ceases weeping and turns toward Mask.
(Lain) You sound...a lot more wise for someone who has never existed before.
Mask suddenly sounds extremely angry and disappears into nothing. Lain looks up wide-eyed and terrified.
(Lain) But...

Somewhere else in the city, in a dark room with blood-covered walls, a young girl sits with blood on her hands and face. She mumbles something unaudible to normal ears. On the wall next to her, there is "gone is all until the machine" written in blood.

Lain finds herself walkling to her old house. The low hum of the overhead wires bring intense memories back to her.
Blackness.
(Words) Where is this place? How did I get here?
(Lain) How did I get here? Why won't you join me? I am still here.

A man using his navi at home is interupted by the disturbing and foreshadowing image of "The Lain".

(Words) to Be continued...
