The Tickets

I thought this up while driving home one day and thought it would be cute. Dedicated to those of us who know what May 19th is. Also, does not follow any timeline related to Eyes Through the Soul, even though James and Jesse are together.

It was about 10 o clock on Tuesday evening when James found Jesse in the dark kitchen, making an ice cream sundae by the light of the refrigerator. He flipped on the light and watched the whipped cream spray up and into her hair as she jumped. "Shit!" she whirled around and glared at him, seething. He did his best not to laugh, but the sight of whipped cream throughout her hair and face undid him. He doubled over, laughing hysterically. She growled to herself as she snatched a towel and began to wipe the whipped cream from her hair into the sink. He calmed his laughter to a light snicker and walked around the table to wrap his arms around her waist. She finished and turned, glaring at him. "What the hell do you want?" He chuckled one last time and sighed. "Nothing, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies?" She stared at him and then glanced at the clock. "It's past ten, what do you want to see at this time?" He shrugged. "I don't know, I was going to choose when we got there." She rolled her eyes and threw the towel down. "I guess." He watched her disappointed look as she closed the refrigerator and took a bite of the sundae she had made. He smiled softly. "Still disappointed you couldn't get tickets, huh?" She nodded and took a bigger bite. "I could have killed Meowth when he disconnected the phone line. I almost had them." James smirked. "You were on the phone for nearly three hours. He was angry you wouldn't listen to him." Jesse shrugged, her mouth full of butter praline and butterscotch. "Like I ever do….he should be used to it; and it was right when I got an operator, too." James laughed. "Well, let's go. It'll still be fun." She sighed and scooped a spoonful, shoving it into his mouth. "I'll go get ready."

Jesse was ready in nearly record time and she threw him the keys. "You drive. I am way too tired." He nodded and drove them to the AMC cineplex. As he opened her door, she pointed to the line. "Are they waiting for tickets for tomorrow?" James shook his head. "No, probably for tonight's midnight showing." She looked at him, puzzled. "I didn't even know they were having a midnight showing. Damn, I hate that cat!" A shadow passed across her face and she looked quite distraught. As they approached the lengthy line, Jesse started walking ahead. James stopped and caught her sleeve. "Where are you going?" She looked at him. "To get tickets for whatever we're seeing?" He held two tickets up in front of her. "I already have them." She stared at them, squinting in the dim light. She looked closer and her eyes went wide. "Oh my god!" She snatched them and stared. In an instant, her arms were around his neck and she was kissing him. He smiled and held her waist. "Oh my god, how did you get these?" He gave her an amused look. "The force is strong with this one." She could only laugh.

She nestled against his side, his arm wrapped around her in the capacity filled theater. The coming attractions hadn't yet started. "I can't believe you got tickets." He shoved a handful of popcorn into her mouth and smiled. "Yup." She swallowed and reached for the soda on the other side of him, planting a kiss firmly on his lips. "You're just too good to me." He smiled. "I know." She slapped him. He gave her a mock look of horror. "Oh help me Obi-Wan, help me!" She just shook her head and leaned back against him as the lights dimmed, content.
