Author's Note: I was just reading through another story, "He Will Never Be Forgotten", and since I didn't get any terrible reviews saying that I should never ever write another fanfic again, I decided to try another similar one. As always, R&R.
DRACO'S POV
Hey, look, there's 'Mione. Wait, is she crying? Draco walks over to the bushy-haired girl who's sobbing uncontrollably. What's wrong, 'Mione? Hermione? Why aren't you answering me? He sees his mother sitting across the room and goes over to her. Hello, mother. It's so weird. I was just talking to Hermione, and she was crying, and it was like she couldn't even hear- Mum? Are you listening to me? It's me, Draco! Why isn't anyone listening to me?
An old man with white hair and a long beard walks to the front of the room full of people. What's that mad old man up to now? I bet he has something to do with this!
"We are all gathered here today to mourn the passing of one of the most gifted wizards I have seen." What's that he's on about? "His name was Draco Malfoy." He's talking about – me? But, wait, that means I'm – No, it can't be. I'm only seventeen. That's impossible! "He was a brave young man." Was? No, I – I still am. You're insane. I'M RIGHT HERE! "To those who had a chance to know him, he was a great ally, and a good friend.
"He passed into afterlife July 31st of this year." I did? How? "He fought bravely to the end." Wait, I think I'm beginning to remember… "He was with his – friend – Hermione Granger, and they were attacked." I was just a friend to her? Is that really how she saw me? "She was without a wand." I always told her to keep her wand with her. "And he defended her." Of course I did. What was I supposed to do, just let them kill her? "They hit him in the back." Bastards. Couldn't even do me the courtesy of seeing the face of my killer? "There was nothing either of them could have done." If I was with Hermione, at least I died happy. And I didn't let them get her. She's still here, sitting in front of me. I'm so sorry, 'Mione. I didn't fight well enough for both of us. But you're still here.
He sees her crying, sees everyone crying, all for him. I – I didn't know this many people cared about me. It was always just Hermione. He sees Harry and Ron trying to comfort her, but nothing can make her feel better. Nothing, except…
A silvery-grey form materializes next to Narcissa Malfoy. Dumbledore stares for a moment, then everyone else in the room turns to see what he's looking at. There stands the ghost of Draco Malfoy. It moves towards Hermione.
"I'm so sorry, Hermione. I – I couldn't stand the sight of you so sad. I had to come to comfort you. I have to be here for you. I'll never leave you again. I promise." She just stares at him, wide-eyed.
"You came back? F – for me?"
"Remember, after the Battle, when you and your friends were all hurt, and you were scared, and thought they wouldn't make it? I promised you, and myself, that I would always be there for you, no matter what. And I keep my promises, 'Mione." She looks like she wants to hug him, but she knows she can't. "I love you, Hermione Granger. And I'm willing to give up everything – even my afterlife – to be with you."
(A/N: Okay, okay, I know. It's really stupid and pointless, and totally OOC, but I got bored, what can I say? Gimme reviews, even flames are welcome, just tell me what you think of it.)
