A/N So, this is my first story on this website. This is a short that I wrote in English for the prompt "To this day..." and I figured I'd post it here. It might sound a little weird since I had to transpose it from first person, but hopefully it's not too bad. Also, I know that he has an aunt, uncle, and cousin as well as his parents, but we'll ignore that for now. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy it!
To this day, carnival music filled him with a sense of nostalgia. It reminded him of when he was younger. Dick Grayson grew up in a circus. His parents raised him as a performer. They traveled the world with a circus, but really that circus was just another part of his family.
When Dick hears carnival music, it brings back the feeling of the wind rushing through his hair as he flew on the trapeze for the first time, straight into the waiting arms of his father. He can smell the peanuts that he used to feed to the elephant, Zitka. She was one of his best friends. But when he hears carnival music, it also reminds him of the night of The Performance. The night when his parents fell, leaving him alone in the world. To this day, Dick Grayson can't stand the sound of carnival music...
