Deep, in the depths of the Whirl Islands, where very few humans venture, the legendary and mysterious Lugia slumbers peacefully. He is dreaming of a time where he could roam the land freely without being threatened by eager trainers so desperate to make him their own. Lugia dreams of that cherished memory frequently. He wishes so dearly that he will one day be reunited with the feeling of freedom, but now it remains 'once upon a time'. He slowly awakens at the sound of faint shuffling from a far off area.

"Another one…" He whispers to himself.

Lugia stretches his wings out and sighs softly. He looks around the room that he is now confined to. Though it was beautiful, with water that shines like crystals and a mellifluous waterfall crashing behind him, it could never compare the feeling of the air against his body; or even the rush of the open water. Lugia dazes off in his fantasy.

"Uhh…" A young and feeble boy makes his way to the ledge in front of the legendary Pokemon. He is awestruck at Lugia's graceful and prevailing manifestation. Lugia looks in the trainer's eyes.

"Hurry up and get this over with." Lugia states, but the trainer cannot understand him. Lugia lets out a roar in hopes of provoking the boy to go on with his efforts. His scheme works.

The young boy shoots up with a charge of confidence and calls out his Pokemon. "Go, Blaziken!"

Lugia notices that the boy's Pokemon has more confidence than his owner. Blaziken stares Lugia down; he is certain of his power. Lugia smirks, knowing how the battle will end.

"Water against fire." Lugia announces to Blaziken. The fire Pokemon pauses, realizing the odds. He frantically turns to his owner, helplessly pleading him to switch him out with a better matching Pokemon. The trainer smiles at his companion. "You can do it Blaziken, I know you can." Blaziken slowly turns around and sighs.

"The boy is young, my friend. Let him learn from his mistakes." Lugia smiles at his opponent. "That is how we all must learn."

Blaziken slightly smiles and nods his head. His confidence is back. He knows that he will not win, but he will refuse to give up. "Don't go easy on me, Lugia. I will not falter simply by the odds." He smirks.

Lugia smiles in agreement and levels himself with the challengers. He waits for Blaziken's attack.

"You ready Blaziken?" The trainer asks with a sneer on his face. Blaziken nods and grins to the young boy. "Use Fire Blast!" And the battle begins.

To Lugia's surprise, the fight did not end abruptly as he had originally thought it would. Blaziken put up a decent brawl, but it was obvious he was becoming weary. He was strong, but there was only so much he could take. He withstood many of Lugia's Hydro Pump attacks, though one more hit and he would faint. Lugia glances at the young trainer, whose self-assured smile turned in to a look of utter fear. His beloved Pokemon was struggling to keep up. Lugia feels sympathy for the duo and decides to use his weakest attack, Extrasensory. Blaziken faints, but not before shooting Lugia a smile.

The young boy quickly calls Blaziken back and dashes out of the room. Lugia yawns and perches himself back on his resting place behind the waterfall. He expands his right wing and looks at the injury cause by the battle. "The trainers are getting stronger and stronger by the day." He chuckles to himself and returns to his dreams of freedom, where he will remain until the next challenger emerges from the depths of the cavern.
