In all honesty, this is the perfect Bunny song.
Song: The Truth About Heaven by Armor for Sleep
POV: Kenny's (ghost?)
Also, don't flame it or complain to me if it insults your religious views, because frankly, I don't give a fuck.
~x~
Walk past my grave in the dark tonight,
Saw the stone and the note you left for me,
to answer your question I just had to leave,
I just had to leave
I sighed, nonexistant air leaving my nonexistant lungs. I was kneeling before my grave, my eyes reeling over and over the small piece of paper with its sloppy handwriting and smudges where tear drops interfered with the ink.
I'm sorry Butters.
Why did I have to die? To not come back this time?
I just had to leave. It was finally my time, I guess.
But that's not why I'm here,
I came down here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long,
I wanna find you so bad and let you know
I'm miserable up here without you, miserable up here without you
I had grown sick of the eternal showers in Heaven. That's why I was back here. Well, that was part of the reason.
A small part, actually.
The rest of it was Butters. I'm miserable without him. They say Heaven brings eternal happiness?
Yeah, right.
Found my way back in the dark tonight,
Couldn't wake up not right next to you,
I'd trade in forever to just hear you say the sound of my name
I was lying down by Butters, stroking his sobbing form soothingly. The moon was the only source of light in the room.
Too bad he couldn't feel it, or hear my consoling whispers.
"Say my name, Butters. Please?" I murmured. "I'd give up Heaven just to hear you say it."
"Kenny…" he whispered, as if he heard me.
But that's not why I'm here,
I came down here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long,
I wanna find you so bad and let you know
I'm miserable up here without you, miserable up here without you
"It rains in Heaven, Butters," I sighed, caressing his cheek. "But I know… if you were there with me, it wouldn't."
Butters gave a soft smile, and seemed to lean into my touch.
But he couldn't feel me.
"I want you there with me Butters," I continued, covering his hands with the one that wasn't touching his face. "I know, it's selfish, but I'm miserable without you."
Don't believe that it's better when you leave everything behind,
Don't believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die,
Don't believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die
"It's not perfect like they say," I murmured. "The weather is horrible… but I seem to be the only one affected by it, Buttercup."
I swear, I saw the ghost of a smile touch his lips. But I must've imagined it, because Butters continued to stare at the moon, tears silently kissing his face.
I came down here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long (all day long),
I wanna find you so bad and let you know
I'm miserable up here without you, miserable up here without you
I came down here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long (all day long),
I wanna find you so bad and let you know
I'm miserable up here without you, miserable up here without you
I sighed, a few tears leaking from my eyes, and I stood from his bed.
"Thanks for coming, Kenny…" Butters whispered. "I love you."
I froze, and turned around.
Butters was looking right at me.
"You're still dead," he said.
"I guess."
"So you have to leave."
"I wish I didn't."
"Me too."
I bent down and kissed Butters softly, pouring all my love and regret into that one kiss.
"I wish it didn't have to end like this," I whispered. "I love you so much, Leopold Stotch."
"Bye Kenny," said Butters quietly. "I love you too…"
Then I faded away.
Don't believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die
