Ow!" Liz stuck her finger in her mouth on instinct when the thorn jabbed her. "You OK, babe?" She scowled when Hellboy called her that, but said nothing. She knew every time she was in the slightest amount of danger or pain, he reacted like it was life or death. Why should this time be any different?
"Fine. Just a little cut is all." She said as she held her finger up to him. "Roses got me." She nodded to the bushes surrounded them. She'd really thought these mazes of roses that surrounded castles were something out of story books, but then again fairies and dragons and demons weren't supposed to be real either.
"Want me to kill it?" He brushed the tiny droplet of blood from her finger tip, inspecting the slight contrast of it on his red skin. "I'll do it. Flowers won't know what hit 'em." He said with a smug smile.
"No, Red. Do not kill the flowers." She said as she continued to look for a way out. It was looking more and more hopeless, and she was sure she'd just have to burn the whole damned maze down for them to get out. She was deep in strategic thought when she felt a thick finger tap her shoulder. "What?" She grumbled at she turned. Before she could say another word out, a bundle of roses was thrust in her face.
"Killed the thorns." Hellboy said with a big smile as he held his stone hand out to her. "Now you ain't gotta worry about getting' hurt."
Liz fought back a giggle as she reached her hand up. Sure enough, every single thorn had been removed from each rose. She bite her lip, pushing on his shoulder a moment later. "Roses?" She teased him as she held them to her nose. "Next thing you know you're gonna want to go dancing and be buying me jewelry."
He snorted a laugh, craning his head up to look at the sky. The moon was starting to rise, which meant they'd been trapped in that maze for most of the day. "Don't hold your breath, kid." He said with a sigh. She scowled a bit before she set the flower on the ground next to them. She smiled and held her hand out to the demon that stood next to her. "Come on. One little dance won't kill you."
