My first ever fanfiction. Here we go!
They really shouldn't fit.
But somehow, they do.
Maybe because they had to work everything out, even though it was impossible.
It was like they had to make a Jigsaw Puzzle, but with half the pieces missing.
In the end, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get the perfect picture they wanted.
The whole 'Going To Yale & Marrying Nate' plan didn't work out for Blair. Instead she got NYU and Chuck Bass, who, no matter how hard he tried to convince Blair, would never change.
All Dan ever wanted was to land the girl of his dreams, Serena van der Woodsen, go to an Ivy League (preferably Yale or Dartmouth), and become a writer. But, of course it didn't work out for him etheir.
Or Maybe it was because when Blair needed someone to catch her when she fell, it was Dan Humphrey who did so (she really needed someone after everything that Chuck did).
Or Maybe it was because when Dan's life fell apart, Blair Waldorf stood by him. When he got Georgina Sparks pregnant, broke up with Vanessa and watched as his family fall apart, she was there for him.
Of course, it was them against the world. Blair lost Serena as her best friend, and Dan lost Vanessa as his friend. Dan's own sister wouldn't even look at him, and Blair's mother started to judge Blair even more.
They didn't need them though.
They had each other, and to them, that was all that mattered.
They ignored every Gossip Girl post, every sneer comment from people they knew at High School on the street and the many snide remarks from their old friends.
Blair eventually stopped living at her dorm in NYU, and moved into The Loft with Dan, not caring that it was in Brooklyn at all.
Of course, like any couple, they had their fights, and every time Gossip Girl found out about one, Serena, Jenny & everyone thought gleefully that it was over for good, and would start calling them excitedly.
But Blair & Dan would always kiss and make-up, and the now usual silence between everyone else resumed.
Blair wasn't the bitchy UES queen she used to be, and Dan wasn't 'Lonley Boy' from Brooklyn anymore. They had changed each other for the best.
They went to every event on the Social Calender with pride. They'd walk in, arms linked & soend the entire night kissing, dancing together & talking with Lily & Rufus (who were probably the only people in The Upper East Side who were still talking to them-except for maybe Cyrus).
They were two pieces from two different puzzles who shouldn't fit together at all-but they do.
Perfectly.
