Cries In The Night!
By No1butjoe
A/N: Just a warning. This story may seem a little dark, upsetting, or extremely sad. That's only because I had a crappy day at work today. I was pushed to the point where I almost quit. Luckily, my friend and co-workers talked me out of it, but I still feel like . Anyway, this is what happens when I do. R&R if you like.
She didn't register the cries as her own until she felt the tears slide down her cheeks and implant themselves in the dark ground below, soaking into the soft earth underneath the grass. Sob after sob tore at her throat until her voice was hoarse and no words were able to come out of her mouth from so much crying. The image of him lying there stayed embedded in her memory and nothing was going to take it away from her.
Like a stray cat, she wandered along, glancing up every time someone called to her, or stopped to talk. And every time, she wished it was him, wished it was him who wanted to talk to her, to hold her close, to sooth her pain, but that could never be. Those same arms that she wished would wrap themselves around her had, instead, wrapped themselves around another woman! That strong voice that made her heart flutter every time he spoke to her, instead soothed her. She shook her head slowly, trying to stop the downpour of tears that had started all over again.
She was foolish. They could never be in the first place! They were from two different worlds. They both had their own dreams, own emotions, and own feelings. The pain still didn't go away and she fell to her knees, no longer able to stand due to the aching in her chest.
"I don't know what to do," she whispered as light rain began to fall around her, soaking through her thin jacket and drenching the poor girl. "Please, tell me what I'm supposed to do."
No answer came and she never expected one. No one stopped to ask her questions and she would refuse to answer them if they did. She closed her eyes tightly, forcing the last remaining tears out into the open, hoping he'd come along and find her like this, see how much hurt and suffering she had endured all because of him. As she slowly made her way to her feet, a clap of thunder sounded overhead, making her shiver slightly. Allowing the cluster of raindrops to refresh her, Kagome sighed deeply, sad eyes still downcast. The trip toward home would be a long one, but she had no choice. There was no place for her here. And even if there was, she'd never be able to stay, not with him staying around! Kagome folded her arms around herself in an effort to keep warm, turned, and headed for the well, murmuring one thing the whole time.
"I love you, Inuyasha."
A/N: As if you couldn't guess, right? Well, this is what comes of me being POed in the middle of the day. Anyway, like I mentioned before, R&R if you want. Makes no difference to me. It'd be nice, but still, up to you. See you around!
