Chapter 1:

The Amazing Race (Of Gumball!)

"Okay, kids, it's time to finally leave school." Ms. Simion announced. Gumball was excited for this time of year, and he just wanted to celebrate the awesome festive: by singing! "Diving, grilling..." Gumball sang. "I'm going to announce something else." Ms. Simion interrupted. Those words were bad news to Gumball and Darwin; it meant fresh yet unhealthy work.

Those words weren't mentioned in the whole world outside of New Jersey since the Vacant Lot Exploration of 55', according to Anais. Also according to her, the Vacant Lot Exploration was a Mississippi event that was held since 1950 to explore the gloom and doom of the largest vacant lot in the world, but for some reason, 35 years after the first event, it was cancelled. It was a coincidence since that was the same year construction on Elmore began (and somewhat ended).

"Um, may we go to the laboratory, the restroom, the little's boy's room?" Gumball and Darwin asked. They were allowed to do so, but they weren't going to the bathroom, they were discussing the plan. Darwin asked what they would do, "Okay, what's the plan?" "Simple: We race out of school in mop buckets and we forget the assignment. We just have to come up with an excuse in the fall. They pushed their mop bucket and got in it. The chase begins now.

They bursted out of the door and flew across the street. They landed on the road, steering for safety. "Gumball, a truck is pushing the brakes!" Darwin warned. They ducked in the mop bucket. "This is a disaster! Can't we just our work! It causes injury, maybe even DEATH!" Darwin protested. "You're right, Darwin: there's an unfinished bridge." Gumball replied. "That I can solve." Darwin answered.

He went underwater and acted as a motor, while Gumball forced the mop on the ground. Together, they succeeded to survive, flying of the half of bridge that makes the open bridge.

Unfortunately, they landed in the middle of the street of where their house was. Even worse: They sprung from there to their house, crashing there. With Gumball and Darwin (and their house) being damaged, plus with Gumball's hand sticking out. Ms. Simion put the note in his hand, much to the blue cat's dismay. Due to his dismay, he thought, Crap.
