Shaggy
Dean sat at the end of the bed trying to watch Batman that was surprisingly on the few channels the motel offered. His little brother Sam sat at the small table fully engrossed in the homework he'd been given that day. Dean couldn't help but let out a scoff the kid was too smart for his own good sometimes. But that didn't stop him from believing Sam would be the one to make something of himself one day.
Sam let out his third sigh in twenty minutes as he brushed his brown locks away from his eyes so he could focus on the algebra problem in front of him. He saw math homework as a puzzle and enjoyed figuring out the correct answer. Now if his hair would cooperate then there wouldn't be a problem.
Batman had just gone to commercial and out of habit Dean glanced over to Sam to make sure he was alright. It was routine now ever since he was old enough to remember.
Watch out for your little brother, his dad's voice resounded in his head daily.
It was the fifth sigh that had Dean getting off the bed and grabbing a pair of scissors.
"What're you doing with those?" Sam asked glancing up from his homework as Dean walked closer.
Dean open and closed them a few times smiling slightly at the noise it made when the metal rubbed against itself. "You need a haircut."
"No," Sam quickly brushed the hair out of his face, "It's fine."
Dean laughed and put a hand on his brother's shoulder to keep him in place. "Yeah, if you want to be called a girl. Maybe you should call over some chicks from school and you can have a tea party."
"Leave me alone," Sam groaned trying to move from the tight grip.
Not seeing any other option Dean quickly snatched Sam's homework off the table and held it above his head. "Let me cut your hair and I'll give it back. Wouldn't want to mess up your perfect grades, would you?"
"Dean!" Sam jumped up trying to grab the papers but he had yet to hit his growth spurt. After a few more minutes of arguing and a few cheap punches thrown Sam gave up and plopped himself down on the chair. "Fine but I don't want it short like yours."
"It'll be just short enough where you can't braid it," Dean teased placing the homework on the top shelf of the closet until Sam's hair was cut. "Just sit still."
Sam glanced up nervously, "You do know what you're doing, right?"
"How hard can it be?" Dean shrugged and started snipping away at the brown locks.
It was the one and only time Sam let his brother anywhere near him with a pair of scissors though he had to admit it was easier to see his homework.
