Chapter 1
Jace walked into the dark, dusty building with Alec and Magnus only millimeters in front of him.
"This place feels wrong," Alec muttered, glancing at Jace.
"It's polluted with dark magic," Magnus replied, looking disgusted.
The three of them were investigating the old rundown building because Alec, who had been walking past it the other day to get to another demon sighting, had claimed he'd felt as if something was just wrong about it.
Jace normally would never have let a warlock on the scene while they were hunting a demon, but Alec had reminded him that Magnus knew the most about magic, and that it would be better to have him along. Just in case. Of course, Jace knew that the real reason was because the two were dating, and Alec had felt better having his boyfriend by his side. But he didn't need to know that Jace had already figured that out.
Four would've been quite a crowd, so the two boys had decided to leave Isabel behind, much to Isabel's displeasure.
Jace felt a chill run down his spine. "Alec's right. It feels dangerous," he said.
"It's a warning to intruders to back off," Magnus replied, letting his hands glow with magic so he could look around the room.
Alec and Jace pulled out their witch lights, letting them glow in the darkness.
"Can you see any-?" Jace was interrupted by Alec.
"Sh! I heard something!"
"Wha-?" Jace froze as something with glowing red eyes stared at him from a corner. "Alec! Magnus!" he hissed.
They turned and saw the thing with the red eyes. Magnus took a step closer to Alec, protecting him from it before calling out to the demon in the native demon language.
"Mostre-se!"
The demon uttered low deadly hiss.
"Eu dixen amosar-se, demo!"
It hissed again, and Magnus's, hands glowed brighter and stronger.
"Eu non vou preguntar de novo, demo! Revele-se!"
At that moment it lunged, knocking aside Magnus easily and swinging its tail forward.
Alec lept out of the way, falling onto the ground as he grabbed his stele.
"Magnus look out!" he screamed.
Magnus stepped back just in time, shooting a ball of magic at the thing. Whatever it was, he'd never seen anything like it before, and neither had the others apparently.
Jace hurried up, about to stab it with his stele when its tail suddenly slammed down on him, stinging him in the shoulder.
"JACE!" Alec screamed.
"Go on! I'll be fine!" Magnus called. "Create a portal and get him back to the Institute!"
Alec hesitated.
"NOW, Alec! There's no time!"
Alec obeyed as Magnus kept the demon at bay.
Alec grabbed his adopted brother and stepped through the portal.
A/N: Good? Huh? Huh?
