"Relax, will you, Zack?" Rain said annoyedly to her best friend. "You're really starting to get on my nerves!" She had been quite irritable ever since the gathering that had been held that morning at Union Circle at the Temple of the Dragon Ancients. There, along with every other one of the Dragon Warriors and the Apprentices, she'd learned that Reshiram and Zekrom, the two Legendary Dragons of the Ishuu region, had started to battle.

" If they continue to battle for too long, then they will not only destroy themselves, but this world as well," the High Dragon Elder had said. "So, I will send two of our most trusted and reliable warriors to quell the fight. Until I decide who shall go, everyone is to remain here."

Rain had been pretty uptight and irritable ever since. "Aww, lighten up," said Zack. "You're nervous too, don't try to deny it!" "Whatever," snapped Rain, "I just don't get why you're acting like this right now! I mean, we've both been here since we were ten, and we're both sixteen now! But from the way you're acting, you'd think it was your first year here!" Zack started to reply angrily, but before he could, he was interuppted by Kira, another one of the Dragon warriors.

"Pipe down, guys!"she said teasingly, "I mean, geez, I can hear you from outside!" Zack's face flushed with embarrasment. "S-sorry," he stammered. "Heh, forget about it," she said. "I actually came over to tell you that the High Dragon Elder has called another gathering. I guess he's finally decided who'll go stop Reshiram and Zekrom. C'mon, let's hurry!"

By the time they arrived at the gathering, everyone was there already. "Hoo, boy. Hope we're not late. Heh heh," Zack whispered jokingly to Rain. "Shut up!" Rain hissed under her breath.

"Well, now that everyone is here, we shall begin," the High Dragon Elder announced. Rain and Zack hastily quit their argument. The High Dragon Elder cleared his throat, then began to speak. "As we all know, this morning there was a gathering, during which the fact was revealed that Reshiram and Zekrom have begun to fight, and that if their fight is not stopped, this world will be plunged into peril. As you have probably guessed," he continued, " this gathering is to reveal who shall stop them. I have made my final decision." Everyone grew tense with anticipation.

"...Rain and Zack. You are to go to Mt. Shadowcrest and soothe Reshiram and Zekrom." Rain and Zack both shared the same look of shock on their faces. All heads turned toward them. "...us?" the two asked in unison. "Yes," said the High Dragon Elder, "Because you have both been here a long time, and you have gained my full trust."

Rain and Zack stood, dumbstruck. Their expressions slowly changed to understanding, and then to determination. "Thank you High Dragon Elder," they said, "We won't let you down." They bowed, then rose to stare determinedly at their elder. "I am expecting the best out of you," he said, "Nothing less. Now then, make whatever preparations you need to today. You will depart for Mt. Shadowcrest tomorrow." "Yessir!" said Rain and Zack. "C'mon," said Rain, "Let's go get ready!" Zack stood there for a moment then broke loose with a wide grin. "Right behind you!"

By the time they had finished preparing, it was almost sundown. "Well, that's that," said Rain. "All of our preparations are done. We may as well hit the hay. Tomorrow's a big day." "Sounds good," said Zack. "I'm exausted." They both yawned loudly, then started back toward their room. By the time they got there, they were both ready for a good night's sleep. And they were going to need it.
