for a total of maybe ten minutes of writing. Well, it's a poem

What would you say if I had a friend
Yes, a friend—that sounds good
What would you say if I had a friend
That spoke of you all the time
That would lay down their life to protect you
That your smile brightens the worst of their days
Hypothetically speaking
What would you say if I loved you
What would you say if I said
That your very presence sends shivers up my spine
That I can't wait to see you the next day
That my impatience makes me dream of you

What do you think of me
Do you think I am some apathetic bastard
But remember I'm only being hypothetic
Oh but would you look at that

That I stutter and my phrases don't come out right
That our conversations replay in my head once they're through
That your voice comforts my nerves
Or ruffles them depending on your mood

Do you think we could be together if we loved each other
Do you think we could have a boy and a girl
Do you think we could play Shogi till dawn
I would let you win once or so just to see you smile

If I died would you cry over me
Would you be at the forefront of the funeral
Delivering a speech of our friendship—or a speech of your love
Would you kiss my headband before you went to bed every night
Just because it would make me happy

That they work better together
That I think it has something to do with us
