If you haven't seen the episode "Derailed" then this probably won't make a lot of sense to you. Just sayin'. This is the conversation Elle and Reid had at the end of the episode, when they're leaning against a car. I wrote it from Reid's point of view, and I wrote about his thoughts afterward.

I own absolutely nothing. Including the computer I'm using to write this on.

"Um, Reid," Elle began hesitantly, "You probably saved my life in there."

Reid looked stricken for a moment, unused to and uncomfortable with praise. Then he grinned. "Probably? I totally saved your life. And I'm pretty sure that it was caught on tape."

The two agents shared a laugh, but then Elle turned serious. "You know what you said in there, to Briar, that you know what it's like?"

Reid caught the unspoken, hidden question that she desperately wanted to ask. Was it true?

Deciding to put her fears to rest, he gave her a quick, tight smile. "The guy was a, uh, delusional psychotic. I was playing into his fantasy." Elle looked more relaxed, and Reid could barely hold back a sigh of relief. "Go to the hospital. I'll-I'll see you there."

Elle smiled before getting up and heading toward the ambulance.

Meanwhile, Reid stuck his hands in his pockets and walked away from the car he'd been leaning on, his face scrunched up in concentration. He was glad Elle hadn't pressed the question more firmly. He always grew nervous when people asked about his mental health. It was a sensitive issue, especially with his mother in a mental hospital.

Actually, it was only because she was in a mental hospital. Otherwise, he wouldn't be bothered by it, because he was fine. Normal people didn't hear voices in their heads. And he was completely normal.

Liar, they screamed at him.
